After looking at this forum daily and reading all the stupid questions asked by people that have no bloody idea what so ever about going bush or even to the local supermarket in a 4x4 , Its a wonder that there is not more crow picked bleaching bones out there in the bush , Or may be there are and not found yet. I really think that people are using this forum as a joke by asking these questions , If not well you can really understand why the people that live in the bush rip the bloody tourists off . They got no brains at all. If you don't believe me go through the posts in the forum.
It seem that people think that ifn ya buy a 4x4 and a jerry can and a eperb
as well as a cowboy hat and drizabone you'll be right...
The people that give these poor buggers advise via forum are at fault also.
Its too bloody late when your out there with a broken chassis or axle to say , Oh they said on exploroz thats all I needed.

Ask the people in the bush that are called everyday to save these ratbags

Oh dear - bit harsh, mate.

Hope that's not a shiny Grenade you're in - I'm not enough of an anorak to be able to tell without reading it on the side...

Hope tomorrow is better for you.

Ron,

I guess that I am one of the stupid ones even though I have lived in the bush for the greater part of my life including a number of years in the kimberley and other places in outback W.A. Sometime I do like to check on various aspects of travelling this great land as things and procedures do change. Notwithstanding this I quote the famous quote " I disagree entirely with what you say however I will defend to the death your right to say it".

Hi Ron,
But the 'ratbag' saving enterprise can be quite profitable, so a win/win situation is possible.

Hi Ron
What are the "stupid questions asked by people that have no bloody idea what so ever about going bush or even to the local supermarket in a 4x4..............."

There are many very experienced people here on the forum that are willing to share their efforts with people that are new to four wheel driving and want to travel safely throughout Australia. Sure there many be some questions that are odd, but for people that are new, what a better place to receive sound advise.

As for "Ask the people in the bush that are called everyday to save these ratbags", what are you on about here.

Most people here are great to chat with, and as they say, if you do not like it, change the channel. You will no doubt receive many replies

Cheers

Stephen

Ron

"""It seem that people think that ifn ya buy a 4x4 and a jerry can and a eperb
as well as a cowboy hat and drizabone you'll be right... """

Except for the eperb thats what it was like 30 years ago 23 Datsun 720 kingcab, some tools some spares, a copy of Four Wheel Driving with Subaru. Published in 1983 and a girlfriend and off we went.

no one to ask questions then, learned as we went.. (well sort of .. LOL)

But I must agree some of the question asked it's hard to believe people can be that stupid.

like a truck driver asking if he could travel up the central hwy???? and some people replied.. LOL.

Have fun, I don't think it will last too long..

Cheers

What happened to the rule "there never is a dumb question, only a dumb answer"?

And from flying planes - "the question that you do not ask is the one that is going to kill you..."

Just come back from the Simpson, first time. Got a LOT of advice from this forum and it was incredibly useful. Did not have a single problem out there (well, broke a muffler mount, compressor mount and got a lot of dust inside...). Had backups, backups of me backups. Had a weeks worth of food, 70 litres of water. All the recovery and safety gear that you would want.

And most of this stuff I got from reading this forum...

Helped a couple of people on the way who did not know what they were doing, but it did not upset me. Happy to help and pass on my knowledge, freshly gained or otherwise.

(Plus I am an old country boy, grew up on Dodge army trucks and Series I & II Landies)

Yep you are going to get those people who are under-prepared and lack skill and knowledge - but no-one I know is born an expert - we gotta start somewhere., and everyone has a choice.

Posts by Ron M over the past 9 months (since he's been a member),

"I have been around Australia 2 times . and would like to see what people think is the best most agreed answer to this question wins. What are the 7 non man made wonders of Australia answer from 1 to 7 "

"Has anyone been to Port Smith within the past coupla months .. Can you catch fish from the shore and is there any bities such as mossies ans sand flies,,
Is it worth while going there"

"Whats the road like from Cape Crawford to Daly Waters. Is it suitable for towing a caravan.."

"I would like put up a weekly 10 where is questions quiz , answers each time a new set of questions are put up .. If you use a atlas or computer you are only cheating on your self . if you don't know the answer just put dunno."

" Can anyone tell me , Is there anyone over night accom on the trip up to Seisia from lake lands ( not camping ) eg.. Motels , cabin accom . or b&b's .. We are too old to sleep in swags .. "

"Is the road between cape crawford and hells gate sealed please"

"Can anyone tell me how to put in the vke freqs into a barret 250 , I have it programmed to pick up the vks freqs but I now have joined vke also"

G'day Ron. All these are just a few of the countless questions you've asked the non-experts on the site. You got a lot of good responses as well. Pity you haven't beenn able to conttribute more than a few fuff posts like "Whats your favorite non man made wonder" LOL.

Like most people, I suspect what you don't know could fill volumes. The site is about asking and sharing. There are only a few people on here who call themselves experts and most others recognise them for the spankers they are. Thankfully theres enough experience here to get usually get a correct response. Ron, find a nice spot, take a powder and have a lay down. If I could I'd pat your back and tell you your special mate. Sounds like you need it. Feel free to continue asking your quiestions because I know the exploroz community will continue to answer them for you.

Happy Travels. Cruiser.

"Lifetime Member" Ron,
You say: "After looking at this forum daily and reading all the stupid questions asked by people that have no bloody idea what so ever about going bush or even to the local supermarket in a 4x4"

I have to wonder why you recently joined and paid up as a "Lifetime Member" ?

I would hope it was to *educate* people but as Cruiser has very clearly pointed out I now know that's not possible at all, talk about the kettle calling the pot black, did he mention a "spanker" ?

Ron, where do you suggest these "ratbags" that "have no bloody idea" get what you suggest are the *correct* idea's from ?

Can I ask you where you got your perceived "correct ideas" from ?

Because we should be advising your perceived "ratbags" to get their advise from there too, because you clearly believe it won’t happen on here, yes I wonder why you did join as a lifetime member ?
