Dual Battery system for Holden Rodeo

Had to stick mine in the Tub

it still amazes me that with all the years they have been manufacturing 4wd's very few are still able to have a 2nd battery under the bonnet without a lot of stuffing around
so why has
"nt the message filtered back to the brains trusts in the respective companies that we want room for a 2nd battery unconditionally when will they get ther act together?????

My Vehicle is a Colorado near the same thing as a Rodeo. I could not fit second battery under the hood because of the ABS, so stuck it in the back in one of those arc things with a red arc isolator, works a treat

I also have a Holden Colorado Diesel and didn't even bother to research a second battery in the engine bay. There is just not enough room.

My solution was a "flyer" from ABR, who advertises on this site.

The flyer has an isolator incorporated inside the battery box and comes complete with the correct cable to run into the engine compartment to connect to the battery.

I ran the cable along the chassis and entered the tub through the dual walls behind the fuel filler. Simply a matter of removing the plastic section in the wheel arch to gain access between the inner and outer steel liners and drilling a hole through the inner one. I terminated the cable with an Anderson connector and use a patch lead to complete the connection.

The other Anderson connector in the photos is for connection of a Thumper I also have.

I have a 2000 Dual Cab Rodeo and have put a dual battery behind the rear seats. You need to ensure that the battery is sealed so no chance of fumes or leaking. Works a charm

A bit off subject but I have a 60ser L/C/ petrol/gas and because the gas converter is situated in the engine bay it is not possible to fit a decent size battery in it and because I did not want a battery in the cab I installed the battery on the draw bar of my caravan. I realised after I had done the job that I can unhitch the caravan and still have 12v available

Got a 02 Rodea. When I enquired about it was told yes it can be done,

First get the Air con pipes re sited then there is enough room to fit a
second batterey. Never went ahead and had it done, so not sure if it works.
The guy who told me had one put in his Rodeo.

L & P, yes it is possible as I have one installed in my 06 Rodeo. Yes you have do have move the air con bracket and a couple of other minor adjustments to some pipes but there is a commercially made battery bracket that is available. I had a local auto sparkie install it as I'm not that competant and I wanted to make sure it was done properly. The battery is not overly large but is adequate for my needs.
