Last I'd heard, the track was not accessible to the public and anyone found using it without authority was subject to trespassing action. Good luck.

Dio is not quite right. The track is open up to a certain point and then closed. The
Rawlinna route is open from the west, travelling east to
Rawlinna. I was on the track down to cocklebiddy in July and was reccomended to continue east to
Haig and then head south down to Cocklebiddy. The route is rocky and was
water affected at the time I crossed it but it should present no difficulties and is easy to find. You emerge on the main hwy 9 km to the east of Cocklbiddy.
For more info, here is my track condition report.

The rail access road is open to
Rawlinna and then closed to the public from there east. The reason it was closed was that people were going out there and getting into trouble eg, breaking down then flagging down the Indian Pacific train, GSR were not impressed.

When we tried to travel from in 2004 we had plained to go down this road or we where told the Wool road, anyway we got to
Rawlinna late and could not find a road south. we asked some rail workers and where told the only way south that they new was the
Haig Rd so we did 5 hr 215 km. and it started to rain so we keep driving..

In 2007 when we traveled the
Connie Sue Hwy down to
Rawlinna we where to travel the Cocklebiddy -
Rawlinna Road, we called
Rawlinna Homestead and asked if it was OK, they said fine only problem is that if they are mustering you have to wait. anyway we didn't go down that way as we traveled East. here is a plot that D&M did.

It's very nice country out there and we like it, and intend to travel a fare bit of it. There are a lot of stores being told with not much truth to them, so you need to be weary.

did a trip in 2004 from
Eucla north to Forest , along the railway line to Rawliina had a great trip thoroughly enjoyed it . we travelled on the
cleared line about 30 mtrs from the rails where the fibre optic cable was laid . its very
limestone sought of rock but we had no problems . was very supprised to see the
Nurina POW
camp remains ,why would you want to escape and to here .
the only complaint was that the workers at
Rawlinna wre not interested in giving us directions . just do it . our taxes are paying for it !!
