Hi Al
Think I saw this discussed here before ?? but was it advised to fill
water tanks in the caravan before getting to
Coral Bay ?
And is it ok to fill them from the caravan parks/petrol stations say in
Exmouth (ie. do you need permission)
Cheers

Hi there.
The
drinking water in
coral bay is desalinated, Horrible to drink and gives you a sore stomach.
Not sure about
exmouth.

The tap
water at
Coral Bay is undrinkable There is drinkable
water in the
camp Kitchen.
The main parks at
Exmouth all have good
water And if you fill up at midnite you dont have to ask LOL
The
park at the cape has bad
water if you can get it to run.
My friends stayed there
water wouldnt run was horrible and no phone coverage.
Apart from the fish feeding at 3.30 at
Coral BAy there is nothing to do when the whale sharks have gone.
Only fishing and snorkeling.
Definitely wont go back.

Sorry Graham, you must have gone to a different
coral bay to us. We were there about 4 nights and could have stayed longer. Was a wonderful spot to relax. Mind you I caught a 50 kg Black Marlin while there so I could be a bit biased lol. Our girls loved the beaches an the glass bottom boat.

Yep I said fishing which I dont do and went glass bottom boating on the Reef at
Cairns.
We had two nights and that was any amount Depends on what you like doesnt it.
We would have stayed a month at
Denham which we reckon is the nicest
Place south of
Derby.
So there we are all different.

The Peoples Caravan
park in
Coral Bay uses the town
water supply (desalinated) throughout the whole
park.
You may not want to hook up to the
bore water at Bayview Caravan
Park. They have RO filtered
water around the
park for drinking only.
There is a tap at the
Exmouth Visitor Center for travelers on the north side of the car
park.
Also,
Denham (
Shark Bay) has a Caravan fill-up point at the big
water tank (coin operated)
Enjoy the windy coast.

Was at Peoples
Park 2 months ago. The offiice told us not to hook up to taps except to shower so we didnt.
They told us if we wanted to fill a jug or
drinking water go to the
camp kitchen where there was a fresh
water tap
The showers used the awful
water as
well and if you cleaned teeth with it it tasted salty.
So dont know where you got your info from.

Graham,
Thats a bugger, I stay at Bayview every couple of months and was thinking about staying at Peoples in future because I had heard they had hooked up to the desalinated town
water.
Anyhow, what are you doing visiting there? I didn't think you were that keen on the place.

They may
well have after we left but dont know A phone call will tell you I guess.
We went in to hopefully see the whale sharks but they were gone.
As I dont sea fish and my wife cant swim we just veged out for two days.
A
nice beach for those that do the swim thing.
The peoples
park was quite nice Better than the other one I think.
A nice place to visit once on the way to somewhere else LOL.

Just returned from Warroora station and
Exmouth last week after 3 weeks holiday.
I have stayed at
Coral Bay for about a week 18 months ago.
In my opinion both
places are
well worth a look however the
water in both leaves a lot to be desired especially
Coral Bay. Warroora STN required you to cart in all your
water and we bought our drinking/cooking
water from the
supermarket in
Exmouth. I fitted a new sacrificial electrode to the hot
water system in our van just before we left and removed it to inspect and drain the system on our return and you would think it had been in for 3 years not 3 weeks by its condition.
I would definitely only use it for washing and flushing the
toilet and not drinking.
After seeing what it did to the HWS I would recommend taking your own
water even for that.
Cheers Pop

Thanks for all your replies, any info helps.
Graham H, as you are entitled to your opinion on a certain location please respect that the thread had nothing to do with how nice or exciting a place is, more a technical query.
Doing nothing and being bored is exactly why we are going.
Cheers

I have no doubt it is but as I have been driving passenger transport vehicles for years i have got out of the drinking thing.
I never drink much when driving the next day
Prefer to be alert and alive.
Used to hit it years and years ago and had a father who was a hard drinkler but cant put up with the hangovers these days.,
LOL
Cheers
