Here Is a great Idea That was sent to me.
I thought it would be worth a mention as those of us in caravans could use it too in fact even in tents.

Pass this on to all of your friends!! This is a great idea

What to take to bed with you - not a joke
Pretty neat idea. Never thought of it before.

Put your car keys beside your bed at night

Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, your Dr's office, the check- out girl at the market, everyone you run across. Put your car keys beside your bed at night.

If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.

This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain.

It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around.

After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that.

And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone. My Mom has suggested to my Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn't hear him. He can activate the car alarm and then she'll know there's a problem.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.

Not much good on my car If Im more than about 3 car lengths away it wont work and it hasnt got a panic button either.

Last time my alarm went off no one paid any attention same as if your burglar alarm goes .

Neighbours just say Oh another false alarm

Good thought tho.

Well mine has and woks from about 20 meters.
In a caravan park or a camping area I dare say that fellow inmates would take notice real quick.

When I was doing youth work a cop told me once if you carry a baseball bat for protection, carry the glove aswell then it's not a weapon just a sporting object. If you carry a bat in the car put a glove and ball under the seat. I never did carry one but I know a few people who do.

If you carry a bat to use in self-defence or to assault another person it is an offensive weapon.

If you have a bat in your vehicle because you play that sport and carry it for that purpose it is not an offensive weapon.

If you do not have a ball and glove it makes any claim that you had it in your vehicle to play sport less credible.

I do not carry any weapon - I do not live in fear.

My neighbour has a Prado and a Pajero. There other day he went somewhere in the Paj while the builders worked on his house. The Prado's alarm went off and the plurry thing went on for 2 hours and 20 minutes before the battery died. I was in my yard doing things and had to walk around with earmuffs on!!!!!!

I had a neighbour who had one that did that, everytime it got too warm in the sun, it was too windy or any other minor weather change occured it. after listening to it go for 1/2 a day I let him know it had gone off while he was out, unfortunately as the battery had since died he was now dead locked out of his car. I could have shown him how to un-dead lock his crumbledore but I figured the cost of getting it towed to the Holden dealership etc to unlock it was fair compensation for my ears for the day.

dont know why people think Burglars sneak around at night
- sure it happens but do a poll amongst people you work with and any that have been done over itll usually be between 11am and 2 pm when everyones at work

not many thefts occur when people are home

Great idea - except in inner city /inner east of Sydney.

We hear car alarms ALL the time and the almost universal from people nearby is "not another $%#@&* car alarm". They have become so tiresome that most people I know would rather watch a car get stolen than have to listen to another screeching car alarm.

Its a pretty sad statement about the way things are, but I suppose it (false alarms) are just a modern example of crying wolf.
