Howdy all,
The missus and I are upgrading from a camper trailer to a van (shower and
toilet for the
cook). We are looking at the Adria 432 px altea. I have read several forums and have had feedback from van salesmen of other models, and we are trying to distinguish the hogwash from the, concerning availability of parts, to the vans "rattling apart". Anyone with information on the Adria and thier experience's with them would be greatly appreciated, before we
fork out our hard earned.
Cheers.
Kano n Lis.

We looked at these when we first started researching vans, we have no experience but sadly the reports we heard are not particularly good.
They are very stylish and look great but they seem to be made for european roads and conditions more than australian distances. Check problems with wiring and the electrical systems as
well there seems to have been problems in converting from europe to 240v in Australia.
While they look great and are probably very good for 100% blacktop highway driving we did not buy one.
I believe the co importer Geist went belly up a while back as
well? Not sure on that one.
Also the dealer we spoke to in
Brisbane was very uninterested so that put us off them as
well !!

Our next door neighbour has one. She tows it with an X Trail and due to its light weight the little Datsun copes with it easily.
Whilst they're not an "off road" van, she has taken it over some rough roads and nothing has fallen off or shaken loose.
She is single and reckons it is a great "one person" van. The double bed is not huge and one side is against the wall. That would be my only reservation, because they pack a lot in for not a lot of money.
I'd seriously take the GLW with you and lie down in one for an hour or so and see if it suits you. Sleep is important.
Cheers,
Jim.

thanks d002dug for the reply, I'm still hoping to hear from an actual owner of the van, as it seems i have ended up with more heresay instead of fact.
Thanks also to best off road, it took me a minute or two to figure out the the GLW is the same as "the cook". Cheers .... Kano.

I would be interested to know which roads that your neighbour travelled over and the sort of distances she did on them. Just for an idea of what the van is capable of.

while I dont own an Adria seen 2 with problems, 1 bad. Doubt how much longer they will be imported into Aus. For parts you are at the mercy of the importer. no importer no parts. other issue is because of construction they are basically impossible to repair. try and buy a complete side and check the price. check
water tank capacities and cupboard space as
water tanks are often in cupboards or storage space. try and sell an import van.
Jayco have a small full height good layout small shower
toilet van. nationwide service and backup of product like no other van company gives.

We have have just returned from a 5000km trip towing our Adtia 432. on the black top only.
Since owing the van we have had the Dometic fridge and air conditioner repaired under.
This van is built to a price so you can expect some minor problems.
The
water tank is two small.
One light fitting has come loose.
The water/pressure reducer failed.
The plastic fitting holding the table to the wall has to be replaced with a metal one .
The plastic fitting on the hot
water service came off.
But not bad value at $33000. Would like a Off road van same size but $90000 + is a bit much for us.

Thanks Big Al, i appreciate that some small teething problems are associated with some things that we buy new, i guess it just depends on if it was assembled on a Monday morning, or a Friday afternoon!
Cheers,, Kane.

Always a good idea to do some searching (this
forum and perhaps Google) as the answers to your questions 'are out there'. Have a look at these

Google too is your friend

Good luck.

We did a 6.5 month 22,000Km trip early this year towing a Adria 642 (23', 2000KG). We did have it on roads that we had no right to be on and it held up just as good as other Australian built vans.Fair share of screws coming loose but that was to be expected. Was a dream to tow and very economical,8Kms/L averaged out over the whole trip.
However, after saying that, we have traded it in on a 20' semi off road as our next trip we want to spend more time off thje beaten track.

Some of the roads we had it on;
into Canarvon Gorge QLD, 14K's of pretty bad corrugations,
Out to the topaz fields at Mt Surprise Qld
Road from
Edenhope to Derholm Vic
These were probably the worst of the dirt roads we went on.
