Hi, I'm looking at getting a Outback Jayco flamingo or swan.. Doesn't seem to be worth buying 2nd hand as 1 or 2 year old is nearly price of new.. From what I have found the flamingo is $25k but was wonder what the extras generally cost like full annex , bag flys & roof racks ?

Hi ss--ss, ball park figures are end bag flies $250 each and the one over the door $700, to fit my Dove which is shorter than what you are considering. It's a pity Jayco didn't fit a pressure vent in the roof to keep dust out when the van is being used Outback as you do!.... Warrie

No delivery, bought a used van and saved 7 grand over new as it had the 3 awnings plus annex. Condition excellent and only had to drive 200km to pick it up. Is your Flamingo the one with the shower and toilet? Saw that model for $27k, an on road model, not the Outback.... W

Hi,

One other awning you might consider is one on the offside as they offer a great deal of shade and privacy down that side as well. When we used to have our camper we had one fitted and it was very good.

Cheers

While I don.t have a Jayco......(I have the Goldstream Storm RL).....I have just had a set of annex walls made for the bagged awning made....Cost me $1650.00 for the 3 walls, and the weather strip along the side of the camper.

I would also recomed the additional awning on the drivers side of the camper. I have one, and it gives us a lot more covered area for when it rains, and it keeps the camper cooler, and more private.

My son has an on road Flamingo, and has just ordered a full annexe for it. He was quoted $1200 fitted.

We had an Outback Penguin and our annexe cost us $1400 three years ago.

Terry.

$1200.00 sounds good. I did shop around, and was quoted some cheaper prices ($1350.00 or so), but when I went to the shop I ended up ordering it from....I justy had a good feeling abount the lady who measured it up, and would be making it. We did not do a final fit up (ran out of time for School Hols), and it worked out fine, and fitted up with out a glitch. ( and the wife loves it.....so that is worth more than you could put any price on........ :-) :-).

Hiope your sons works out as well as ours did.

I resently purchased an Outback Flamingo picked it up about 4weeks ago
is was around $27800 including following options i added

Bed end flys with mesh screens
Aussie traveller awning with zip on shade cloth front screen (very expensive awning)
Independent suspension
2nd water tank
2nd gas bottle, plumbed with change over switch
Slide out bbq
12 pin plug
drop jacks
roof racks
sail track down the other side of the roof
trigg coupling

It took a fair bit of haggling to get this price, it is worth ringing around to get quotes from other jayco dealers then goto your local one armed with your best price from the other dealers and see what they can do

That's a good price you got with all those options. They keep there value very well & people pay nearly new price because they don't like waiting for delivery for a new one.
Hope you enjoy it !

G'day ss- - ss

I wouldn't overlook the used market. We've been watching and waiting for Jayco, Coromal Silhouette, and Goldstream, campertrailers for a few months. Despite dealer advice about them all being as scarce as hen's teeth, they come up regularly (altho' in frequency indicated by the order above), and many appear to be in very good condition.

The major issue with used units from private sellers is location i.e. how far you might have to travel to inspect, and having travelled a distance, not feeling compelled to buy.

This site, campertrailers.org, and Trading Post are good sites. Ebay also features regularly, but we've had one questionable experience and are now wary.

Good luck

Cheers

There is a Jayco Outback Flamingo in Canberra on allclassifieds.com.

Was in the Trading Post @ $24800 and is on allclassifieds @$23800. Too big for our needs.

Cheers
