Hi,
I have an 05 mk triton, glx-r and I'm looking to get a bullbar and
snorkel for it.
I've had a look on the internet for bullbars, and have found ones made by TJM, ARB, Ironman- they all seem to look the same, and all are airbag compatible. I'm just wondering what the price difference would be, and are there any real differences between them? I'm looking @ getting a steel bullbar, not alloy.
Would the installation of a bullbar (from any of the mentioned brands) result in the cutting of any of the body panels/bumpers (apart from the removal of the front bumper of course).
Also, I've noticed a lot of bullbars seem to now feature 'fog lights' next to the indicators, however I'm not sure whether the bullbar models for the MK triton have them, as I've only found pictures of ML's with such bullbars. Are the fog lights any good? Or would it just be better to purchase a pair of aftermarket ones, and bolt them on...
In terms of a
snorkel, the only compatible
snorkel that I've found is an 'airflow'
snorkel from a
shop in VIC. Safari/airtec don't seem to have one for an MK triton with the 3L V6.
Has anybody installed the airflow
snorkel on their MK? I'm looking to get it from Ozwide Outdoor Adventures. (

I read on another site (
http://www.snorkels.com.au/p/964517/airflow-snorkel-kit-mitsubishi-triton-strada-1999-2005-petrol-engine.html) that the antenna in the A-pillar needs to be cut out, yet the photos on the site show the A-pillar antenna clearly installed.
I don't think I'll be able to sanely cut out the 86mm hole required for the installtion- does anyone know a place in
sydney where I can get it installed?
Any advice appreciated.
Ben

Ben,
The TJM bar will NOT come with a winch cradle and is an extra.
Fog lights are not worth it IMHO as you only use them in fog, it is illegal to use them in any fine weather conditions.
Snorkels - I had an airtech
snorkel on my MK Triton and didn't have any issues with it. I enjoyed cutting the hole in the guard as
well. I didn't have to move the antenna as it was a drivers side
Snorkel mount and the antenna was a passenger side mount.
As for where to get them fitted, depends on where in
Sydney you are located as there are a heap of 4wd accessory outlets that I could recommend but be a fair distance from you.
Cheers Kev

I'm based in the eastern suburbs, but I don't mind driving to a place to get it done right.
How much was the airtec
snorkel? Is your triton a petrol or diesel model? I've seen an airtech
snorkel for the diesel, but I haven't seen one for the petrol model.

I had the petrol 2000 model MK. It was about $3 - 400 supply only in mid 2000
There is a pic still in my profile pics of the Triton.
You could get quotes from a few
places.
Town and Country Vehicle Accessories in Beverly Hills (speak to Greg)
Numerous ARB outlets,
Mannell Motors,
Macquarie 4x4.

Also, just another thought- I can image a steel bullbar would weight a bit. What sort of effect will it have on the front
suspension? Would it require the purchase of heavy duty torsion bars to even things up? I hear the stock torsion bars on the triton are pretty rubbish (I've already wound them up a bit to get an extra 20-30mm)

Uprade everything before you do the
suspension so you can get it right the first time and not underestimate the actual load you add when adding accessories.
