hi guys

just looking to get some feedback about Down Under Campers - they are a WA based outfit - saw their camper trailers at the 4X4 Show last week and was quite impressed with build quality vs price and i was wondering if anyone's dealt with them before or if anyone has first hand experience with their camper trailers...

i'm tossing up between them, Tambo and Trackabout but would prefer to deal with a local business if possible..

cheers
Jeelan

Hi Jeelan

We had a Down Under Camper Trailer for a couple of years. Could not fault it we did many kilometers travel on bitumen and lots of gravel roads never any troubles. Would highly recommend this camper, the owners of Down Under Campers were very good to deal with. Only reason we no longer have the camper we are getting a bit old and need a few more creature comforts as in a caravan!
Regards
Dave

Thanks for the feedback Dave

I've been dealing with Brett, the owner, and you are right, he is a pleasure to deal with. However i thought i'd get some feedback before making the final plunge and you're comments are much appreciated

cheers

Hi Jeelan
we have had our Downunder camper for 2 years and have travelled 30000kms throught west aus and the kimberley up to darwin down to adelaide . we took it eveywhere even into mitchel plateau and kalumburu. Never had any trouble with it at all and still as good as new. It did leak a little in the first shower of rain but now canvas is cured properly it dosn't leak at all. Like you I looked at tambo and was ready to order one when I found Brett . He was Great to deal with and only to happy to make all the modifications we wanted to personalise our trailer.the best part is that he is local so if you have any problems he is close and you can always go and see you trailer being made. Quality and Price were the deal clincher

Cheers Greg

Hi Jeelan,
Like you I was impressed with those campers at the show.
However, yesterday I went down to Jandakot to see Red Earth Campers and found the camper I want.

www.redearthcampers.com.au

They are INCREDIBLY well built, really strong, with some innovative touches.
Best of all, the heavy duty offroad model is $9999, including 12 months rego. Really helpful proprietor and CT can be tailored to your individual needs.
Cheers, Tony

thanks for everyone's feedback....

we also saw the Camprite stand at the show and my wife is really interested in these units.

We went to both the Outback Campers and Camprite factories yesterday and really liked the way the Camprite are setup and pulled down so we're seriously thinking about these as an alternative to the soft floor models that i've looked at so far. They seem to hv a really good reputation on these forums as far as reliability and robustness goes....

Anyway just wanted to thank everyone for their feedback and responses

cheers
