Hi,
Could I have any feedback, positive or negative regarding a potential purchase by myself of one of these vehicles.
Thank you Alan.

Only got good things to say about it.
Anything specific you wanted to know?

Westi,
Very good vehicle. Do not get sucked into a Holden Colarado- identical, but Holden had to sell there share in Isuzu when the American Govt. bailed out GMH in the meltdown. The share was taken over by Mitsubishi Corp.- not the Mitsi vehicle side of the business, but the investment arm.
Remember when Ford jumped into bed with Nissan when the Patrol was selling flat out and they got the identical Patrol and rebadged it a Maverick, the sales pitch was "Ford dealers Aussie wide, great service, blah blah".
Great until we went to trade them in, "Sorry not a pure bred vehicle, it's a generic badge, no body wants them, they all want to buy Nissan Patrols 2nd hand, take this amount of dollars sonny for your tradein".
Be wary, keep to the Isuzu label and you won't go wrong-Tow 3 tonne, timing chain (no belt), developes the same HP. as a turbo 6 cylinder diesel Landcruiser with Isuzu backup. No petrol motors-only diesels, with their renown truck backup.
Holden with the Colarado are running out their Rodeo motors, expected with current sales to be exhausted within 8 months, then will be fitted with an American Chev motor.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with either Isuzu or GMH, only an old blokes observation, with past experience.
Nick

Absolute Rubbish Nick!
The Isuzu D-Max is made at the same GM Plant in Thailand as the Colorado.
Isuzu have a contractual arrangement with the GM Plant to manufacture the vehicle under licence and is rebadged.
Either vehicle is worthy, especially the diesel engined option.
Bill.

Hi Nick/Sand man,
I think they are identical vehicles but agree that there is a difference between the values 2nd hand, But IMHO I think the Holden badge would get a better trade in.
Ford Rangers dont get the same tradein as the BT50.
I like them, I want one sitting in my shed and they certainly go better then my old girl.
Cheers Wilko

Nick we did all this two weeks ago.
Colorado and Isuzu both run the same twin overhead cam chain driven 4JJ1 motor. You've been sold the greatest line in history.

Hi Alan
I bought a 2009 D-MAX LS-U Auto last month. Driving from
Brisbane to
Townsville was a dream (once I let the tyres down to the correct pressure - and got them to do a wheel alignment to centre the steering wheel correctly). Excellent fuel consumption - so far 9.8 l/100km and they tell me it will only get better as the engine runs itself in. Only done 2100km so far ;-)
Mistake I made was having the
Brisbane dealer fit all my after market gear. Botched up wiring, bullbar, dual battery (in tub). Local company removed and refitted all my aftermarket wiring. The difference is like chalk and cheese. (I'm going to post some photos in a new thread later in the week). When
Brisbane fitted the duall battery they bolted it through the case to
the tub, then placed the battery on top of the bolt heads. If the local bloke hadn't picked it up and placed rubber matting in the case under the battery I could have been claiming a brand new vehicle under warranty! The bullbar I have I'm now fighting them to get replaced. Wasn't what I specified, not painted correctly, not fitted correctly, in fact, one of the local 4x4 stores even wonders if it is a correct bar for that vehicle - seems to sit too high at the front with top bar blocking air flow to the intercooler scoop on the bonnet.
My recommendation is, if it is a new vehicle, just buy the stock vehicle. If you want to add any goodies take it to ARB/TJM/OL and fit ONE item. That will give you a chance to check the quality of their workmanship (and believe me there are some real bodgy shops out there). Good job - go back and get something else fitted.

Hi
Thankyou for the replies I have recieved. I have decided to buy the base model rx with a few extra's including a conopy, window tint, bull bar, ute liner, towbar and a dash mat.
The use I have for this vehicle are towing a 19ft tandem axle poptop caravan , some 4wding on a touring note rather than looking for mountains to climb and just a day to day practicle vehicle.
I nearly went for a Triton as I liked those as
well however the deal offered by Isuzu was better.
Malcom I really like the look of your D-max, looks very flash. Mines going to be boring white i'm afraid.
Thanks all.
Alan

Hi Alan
Nothing boring about white. That was my first preference. I would have had to wait another month.
I also put a ute liner in
mine. I've since learned that if you are going to put a set of drawers in the back then you have to remove
the tub. Something to ponder about.
The dash mat that went on
mine was for a 2003- Holden Rodeo.
Hope you have many happy tours with yours.

Hello Malcom,
Why can't I fit drawers with the ute liner in place? I had no idea I couldn't which is a pain as the car has now got the liner in place.
I saw your post re the efforts of some disreputable accessory fitters, bit of a mess wiring wise.
I can get sliding draws built at the right price too.
Thanks for
the tip.
Regards Alan

Hi Alan
That's what they told me at OL. I suppose they mean commercial drawers - like the measurements made to manufacture would not have included tolerances for tub liners.
If we are going to make our own then we can make it to whatever measurement we need.
How are you going to fasten the drawers in the back? Drill a hole through the liner and
the tub and bolt them down? That's what I'm thinking.
We have a 40 litre Engel (as a freezer), which I'll put in the camper, and a 73 litre AutoFridge for the back of the ute - needs plenty of air circulation on the outside to work effectively. Just have to work out how high I can go and still open the lid (from passenger side) through the lift up canopy window. I'm thinking of a double drawer on the driver side and a frig slide on the passenger side. Still in dreamtime stage at present :-)

Hi Malcom,
I am not sure about how i would bolt them down. I can get the draws made to suit but you have got me thinking regards bolting them down.
Things that make you go hhmmm.
The draws have a slide out top on one side which will be home to my 40 ltr engel which believe it or not I have had for 3 years and its still in its cardboard box. Due to a lack of space previously I had been using my 23 yr old 15 ltr.
Let you know later what I come up with after talking to the guy that will make them.
Regards Alan.
