Hi all.

Just wondering if anyone has any info on gas struts. My gas struts are worn out and Toyota want $336.00 for a new pair!!!
There are some on Ebay for $50.00, however am a bit wary of the cheap price.
Anyone else had this or does anyone know somewhere in Perth that i can pick up a pair for a reasonable price ?

Thanks in advance

Nath

I had the same issue with my GU Patrol.

Bought the ebay jobies from leigh8695 and they are good quality and work fine, no problems.

Usual disclaimer about no affiliation etc.

Hi Nath,
I replaced mine on the 80, both the bonnet & rear tail gate. I purchased them from eBay, Right price with freight, I wasn't going to donate to Mr Toyota's Christmas party this year.
I think the bonnet pair were about $10 dearer than the rear set, But 50 bucks seems about right from memory.

You could aso get your old ones refurbished.
Had my caravan ones done with good results.

I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

I chased up a supplier in Sydney via Yellow Pages for four large capacity struts to push up the pop top on my 'van, the old struts had a part number on them which I quoted, they were delivered next day by courier at less than $50 each including courier.

Try Coventrys or Repco. I used to source them there or direct through Marlows Head Office when I was working spare parts (last lot I ordered were around Feb this year)
Prices are usually fairly reasonable and the quality is the same as Toyota Genuine.
Other option is a wreckers such as Tonys in Midvale. They have heaps of 4wd spares there and most in pretty good nick.
