Like he said but keep the boost to 10 psi max, fit a 2.5" to 3" exhaust, have it tuned including the valve clearances and hang on to your hat!!! It will be a different truck afterwards.

Do a quick search of the
forum, and you will get alot of info. Its very much a split decision, those with them seem to be very happy but there are also millions who say its a disaster in the making. Also google Aftermarket turbo 1HZ. Lots of theories out there.

I put on on and it was an absolute disaster, I couldn't keep it cool no matter what I did.

Done right, it may even extend the life of your engine, some people having pryo's fitted before turbo's have been fitted saw huge EGT's on the std engine.
Do it once and do it properly.Have your pump and injectors recoed, check valve clearances, make sure the cooling system is up to scratch, maybe a compression test at minumen.Once the turbo is on, get it tuned to suit it.Fit a EGT gauge and drive by it.Keep boost around 10-11psi.You can fit a boost gauge if you like but higher boosts equal higher EGT's so EGT gauge should do.Use good oil and change it every 5000kms.One note on that- I still change ours every 5000kms since fittting the turbo but now find the oil comes out cleaner, when it spills on your fingers it used to stain them black, now you can wipe it off and no black stain.Thats gotta be good.
Its turned a stressful drive into a pleasure.Fuel consumption is still the same(about 13-14lt/100kms) and power to spare.
Now you have lots of power, dont try and use it in 5th gear or you will blow it, 5th gear for coasting only.

Safari have a good rep in this area.
http://www.safarisnorkel.com/turbo/1hz_75/st1hz75.htmCooma diesel offer a 79 series specific intercooler and replacement grill:
http://www.coomadiesel.com.au/4087/Products/
I have a safari kit in a 105, pump recall on install ( at
cooma diesel) and 3" exhaust, no over heating issues.
From what I have read, getting it intercooled is the go for minimising the chances of a cracked head.
When the pump is reinstall after a re-cal, make sure the mech. knows how to install and time it correctly.
Paul.

"but higher boosts equal higher EGT's "
not really, more fuel equals higher egts, and not much point running more boost than whats needed to burn the available fuel
