Goodmorning all

We are into our last week here in Barham and have to say it is one of the nicest and friendliest towns we have come across.

There's not much here, but what there is is outstanding.

The RSL sponsors or owns a number of sporting facilities including the Bowling Club Tennis Club and Golf Club.

It paid for a huge park and lakes to be developed.

Meals are good value, but beer is a bit pricey at $4.90 a scooner.

The bakery in Barham is the place to go for coffee and the Long Paddock in Koondrook is the place to go for a meal it is excellent and reasonable prices.

Fuel is around 127 per ltr.

Plenty of silver perch in the Murray, but only a few undersize cod.

The caravan park near the RSL is on the river and looks good. We stayed in a house near the river.

Unfortunately the red gums down here look very, very stressed. Although they have had 3.5" of rain in the past few weeks.

The red gum furniture shops are worth a look and so is the Murrabit markets.

If your passing through stop for a day or two it really is a nice place.

It's all great country down there.

I grew up inEchuca and spent some interesting times along the Murray.

Thanks BooBoo, I enjoy hearing about places around the country and make a mental note for future reference. Have you thought about putting your comments in 'Places'? I've been a bit remiss in that department lately because I save those activities up for a rainy day but the rainy day never comes around here.

We just did a drive from Tocumwal to Barham then on to Echuca right along the Murray River's waters edge to Barham on the southern bank. Camped in Echuca and then next day headed eastwards back all the way up to Jinjelic along the northern bank of the Murray.Camping along the way. And taking all those "tracks" to the waters edge to see as much of the Murray as we could.

Both runs were excellent. At times there was heaps of water and mud to keep the muddies happy and other times the tracks were excellent wide and an easy ride.

The car needed a thorough hose underneath when we got home though. Even though we drove through a heap of rain and storms.

Phil
