Hi All,
I tried to post this this arvo, but don't think it worked, will try again.
We have recently purchased an old Viscount and have just tried to set up the annexe. All is good but we can't figure out how to secure the walls of the annexe to the caravan. The van has the horizontal and vertical rails, but the side of the annexe just has the eyelet holes, but there doesn't seem to be anything to thread through the vertical rails. I don’t know if we are missing something?
Thanks in advance, we are novices!

Most modern annexes have a strip that slides into the vertical sail track and has velcro on it and correspondingly so on the edge of the annexe walls.

Hi,
We have an older Viscount, but we have fitted a rollout awning and a full annexe to it.
Originally it had vertical "sail tracks", (which we had to modify to fit the new annexe ends to,) and these vertical tracks used narrow material with matching eyelets.
If you don't have these , you can get them made, or you can buy"slug slides "to fit the tracks and lace the existing eyelets to these, but it really will not be very weather proof.
I would reccomend getting the narrow pieces.
Hope you can understand all this
ENJOY

HI again,
As Graham says , most side pieces have velcro, our new ones do.
You would need to have you eyelets replaced with velcro, and have the narrow vertical one with velcro also.

Hi B&L
You need a couple more pieces for your annexe walls. These are simply very narrow maybe 5 to 10 cm wide, and have a rope sewn in one edge and on the other have a series of "stay puts" fitted at he same spacing as the eyelet holes in the walls. You can make these but if you are new maybe better to get some made up at a canvas maker or annexe manufacturer etc. Where are you located? I am in SouthWest
Sydney and did have some of these spare. I am not sure if I still do so let me know and I will check and if you are local enough you can have them. You can adjust the stayputs to suit your annexe easily and its probably not necessary to have them run full length but you will have a gap or two that will let the bugs in. Maybe able to cover with cheaper tarrps etc temporarily until you get on your feet, more time and also more experience to do yourself (unless money is no object). Let me know if you are close enough to pick up and i will check to make sure I still have them. cheers mick

Just another thought - you could buy (from Bunnings etc) the starters for the patio roll up blinds as they have a rope edge which should suit your sail track. They are usually clear or smokey brown colour pvc.
You will then just need to go to a van parts place (van sale yard or camec, bcf etc) and buy the correct number of stayputs. Then mark out the position of each hole in the starter at the right heights and spacing, cut a small hole (a cheap hole punch from the hardware that you hit with a hammer makes this easy), fit the stayouts and simply connect up.
I would slide these starters onto your van, use tape to hold them in position if necessary, so you actually make them match the annexe in the final working position. When you have them made up and ready to use, fit them to the annexe walls before you slide onto the van - cheers....

Thanks everyone. We have done a few posts on here and each time have had such good responses, thanks for taking the time to respond to those of that are new, we very much appreciate it!
Mick thanks for your offer, we are in north west
Sydney so not far from you. We might try to buy what you have suggested from Bunnings but if not, might take you up on your offer if you still have them. We will give you some money for them of course.
Thanks again everyone, have a Merry Christmas.

I will go have a look around and see what i have got. Can you measure the length of the VERTICAL sail tracks on each end of the van for me in case i find two that are better suited to you. I used to have a few of these but not sure how many are left now. Hopefully find them and will check against your sizes.
I am going away very early in the morning of Boxing Day, heading up M7 and M2 towards the Mid North Coast. So not sure if I will be able to get them to you? If I find them you are welcome to drop by here of course beforehand. Will go check out what I can find. Cheers Mick

Hi again
found my last 2 i had as spare. They are yours if you want them - dont worry about payment - a couple lottery ticketswould be perfect if you wanted to. I may end up lucky:)) The size of each is approx 2.4 metres long x 6 cm wide with the rope edge in one side. They do have holes in them from previous stayputs and if you are lucky they may even suit your spacing, if not just duct tape over them or fit extra stayputs to seal them.
You can buy stayputs at
camping stores, Check Rays Outdoors and also BCF etc. Buy the round based ones. You can get them in two lengths also. Not knowing your annexe i cant suggest which but guess either would be ok. If your annexe is not too thick shorter maybe ok as longer ones may fall out if too loose in high winds?? You can buy them with a metal "tongue" or all plastic. Buy plastic base and metal "tongue" if you can find any - they are stronger. You will need as many as your annexe requires - count the eyelets - plus handy to have spares. Check the ones you buy fit your eyelets. They are also available in rectangle base with 2 holes in the base - these are to fit to the external caravan walls but dont think you should need them. These are striped vertical in a green, brown, white and yellow colour. They are a bit dirty due to age but I think are ok. Certainly strong enough.
If you want these for xmas break better give me your contact number so we can sort out how and when you can get them. I could post if i could get time to go to PO but not sure I will have time to battle the shopping crowds here to fight for a
park as I am home packing 2moro ready to leave in the early hours of boxing day to beat the mad crowds on the roads. If you caan come out Campbelltown way 2moro would suit me, cheers again mick....

Just thinking about ut, if you dont need these before xmas i can leave them out for you anyway to collect whenever you want. I will have someone here while i am away but they will be working odd hours. I can leave outside to suit you. Just let me know in advance. If you can get your mobile or home number to me i will give you a ring and discuss to see what suits you. Pick up would be from Glen Alpine part of Campbelltown 2560, cheers again....

Hi B&L
Just a follow up to say thank you for leaving me the lottery tickets. Unfortunately I am no richer because of them (actually poorer since xmas but thats no fault of the tickets)
Hope you were able to adapt the annexe starters to suit your van/annexe and everything is now perfect :-)
cheers Mick
