Many of you confused about being moderated for foul language in their posts. One today replied that "if you are offended by the word why not bleep it out?".

The EO bleepometer will automatically bleep out all words such as bleep and bleep and bleep and bleep but where a user uses characters such as @ or # or ! etc, e.g. sh#t , to avoid the bleepometer the moderation team have no option but to moderate the post for foul language. If the moderated user wants their post re-instated then they can reply to the email they get and request the word be changed removed or whatever.

This is tedious and a pain for the user AND the ModSquad. The bleepometer is there to moderate language like that.

Note also that abbreviations such as FIGJAM, WTF, CRAFT will also be moderated.

So type what you want to say and let the bleepometer do its job. Remember, if you need to use characters like $#@! to alter your word then maybe pop another word in there.

Last thing, if you wouldn't say it in front of your grandmother, then please don't use it here, unless your grandmother is an ornery old bleep .

The ModSquad
Moderation is just rules

If people cannot speak without swearing, then maybe they should not speak (or write.)
All swearing dose is show how you were brought up, if your mad at something it does nothing by swearing about it.
Bushy.

Bushy, my parents didnt swear, Atheists, didnt drink. I drink, i swear, and am an Atheist, Have a nice home, kids, and friends, so go figure. I figure there would be things you say and do that would offend me, but to you that wouldnt matter, because thats how you where bought up. I can also say that you would have said at least one of the words the mod squad is working on, at least once in your 4WD life.

Just a thought,
Would it be possible to have in the forum a list of Emotions. Lcool does for eg:
Emotions
Maybe an emotion can be placed in the post, It can be funny at times and it cuts the foul language out of the threads.
As I mentioned, Just a thought.

Fair enough too ModSquad, i don't like to hear or see the unnecessary adjectives and expletives, but is is a bit hard on someone who has a bleepsu dog they travel with - in a thread a couple of days ago.

I don't have such a problem with the abbreviations (i only got one out of three in the test you set us above), as the proverbial Granny who would object to the use of the F word (she would know it, learnt from her little grand children) probably wouldn't know the abbreviations. "Wear the fox hat" is a more obvious colloquialism which means similar with a humorous touch.

Cheers

I tend to agree with the Modsquad and citing this example is not offering an opposing view because the media, especially TV, is the worst culprit for swearing, however, News.com uses WTF as a special oddball news section but call it:

Weird, True, Freaky.

http://www.news.com.au/weird-true-freaky

Although we ALL no what it really means.

no = know.

I would really love an editing function, even if it's only for 15 minutes after posting, like the Caravaners Forum.
