Finally, the all new Patrol has been released - in The Middle East. So it can't be too far away for here.

5.7l V8 as per the rumor, with 450 hh ( 330kw?) and 650NM. No Word on the Diesel. I guess 28l/100 km is good economy if Petrol is 22 c /litre.

I reckon it looks exactly like a LC 200 with a smashed up rear quarter panel and round Murano bum. Even the dash is a straight copy.

Lots lots lots of fruit.
Multimode TC, more cameras than Pentridge Prison, Lane departure warning, Rear Diff lock, etc etc. But is Nissan is anything like Toytota, half of it wont make it past Australia's border control.

Here is the killer for the Nissan die hards.

"The new independent suspension and the world-first Hydraulic Body Motion Control System ensure that you experience the sublime handling of Patrol like never before"

Sounds like independant suspension all round from that statement.

Check it out All new 2010 Patrol

"Outside....

....the LED puddle lamp sets the tone at the very outset."

Sounds like those blue fluro lights that rice burners have along the underneath of their Mitsubishi's :-).

You wouldn't want to accidentally drive your fully independent Patrol into a puddle now, would you?

Nah what it sounds like is a little light underneath the mirror like some high end cars have so that when you open your door at night you don't put your foot straight into a puddle

Like you're really going to be worried about puddles when you're parking up in the middle of the boonies anyway!!

Independent suspension + spare wheel underneath (where else could it be?).

+ LC200 looks. Gees, Toyota must have designed it.

Nissan will probably again offer diff locks in the top of the range model - for people who least need the feature.

Is it launch of 2010 Patrol or death of a 4wd?

No thanks

Yep got to agree with you jdwynn. Just made it even harder to find a late model 4.2T Patrol GU without losing an arm or two. Rebuilding the old girls I have (when they finally die, if they ever do) just gets more attractive evry time I read one of these write-ups. No doubt it will be a formidable vehicle as is the cruiser but I won't have a computer control where and when I can go somewhere if I can help it.

Trevor.

Hahaha, LOL. Those latté café carparks can get pretty slippery...?!

BTW: Don't be too worried at this stage about the placement of the spare wheel - the 120-Series Prado was also available overseas with the spare wheel mounted underneath (and I understand the 150-Series Prado is too) but in Oz versions it's on the back door.

The more these things become computerized, the less control we will have over our vehicles. This one's definitely a metrosexual.

Interesting!

According to drive.com.au Nissan are going to continue production of the GU for "the customers who still want the rugged simple performance..."

5.7 litre petrol v8, 4 wheel independent suspension, more computer knick knacks than a range rover. Not much use out bush in Australia I'm afraid.

It looks like they turned a real 4x4 into a pimped machine.

I'll stick with my old 4.2td Patrol.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.

400HP and 5.6 Litre to be exact.

Shame about it likely being all independent.

One skeleton shot shows a lot in the rear.....maybe a solid rear we hope :-).

It seems that only the 70 series is the only true 4wd left (and defender). The new 70 series wagon is on the cards but needs a bit spent to get it right.

Will wait and see before I make the jump to the Dark Side.

Don't forget the 4800 Brett , a new shipment (the last ? ) is supposed to be landing feb/march.

It may be the last chance ever to get a full size coil sprung wagon and it is still in the 50's price range cheaper even than 76 series.
I tried but don't think a 76 series can be got right due to its basic narrowness and NVH issues , but then it clearly has some range attributes.

If a 200 series came out with that basic engine it would convert me.

Wonder if I will take my own advice ?

I think it loods ok, maybe it will be decent competitor for the 200 series at a cheaper price. Depends what diesel they come up with I guess. IFS is an improvement really, much better on road and fine for almost all of this country. If anything, it could save the Patrol brand.

Would anyone consider buying a new Nissan given the very fine aftermarket customer service shown to all those 3.0 litre owners to date??

Whats that mug Latin saying??

Caveat emptor!!

Sydney Morning Herald (Drive section) is reporting that it is being made in left hook guise for the arabs until 2011 and then will they will start building RHD so it can come to Oz.

Also saying that GU may continue to be sold alongside the new one for some time after it is introduced as they recognise this may be a bit too flash for people who want a "basic workhorse".

20" rims!!!! Gunna be some expensive tyres I'll bet....

5.6L DI V8 300kw/550Nm, diesel will be a 3.0L V6 with 195kw/550Nm, and rumors suggest Nissan will have access to a new Cummins V8 diesel. 7 speed auto. I very much doubt 28L/100km! maybe in 4x4 low range, while rock crawling with a heavy trailer on the back. Even a petrol 6.8L V10 F350 doesn't use that much unloaded.
