Hi,
Can any one point me in the right place for a dummies version of how the co-ordinates that are used in GPS systems ie. ozi explorer work.
I have a very basic understanding of the concept that is involved but always confuse my self ! (thats not hard)

Hi William

I bought the book 'GPS Vehicle Navigation in Australia' by Robert Pepper, sold in the shop here, or at TJM stores etc.

Takes a bit of reading, but it explains all things GPS. I have read mine twice right through, then bits and pieces of it many times over. Very thorough.

I plan on attending a basic course on GPS stuff in Sydney in May, put together by GPSOZ, mainly because I am the type of person that needs to see things, rather than just read about them, to fully understand stuff.

I don't know where The Shire is, but maybe the course would help you too, or if it's too far away, there may be other training organisations or clubs around. Definitely recommend the book though.

BTW, my 'problem child' is causing me grief again...lol

Hope this helps, good luck, Dave

Just read that you come from NSW, & support Parra and the Swans, so maybe not too far from the Penrith training course. They also do one in the Mona Vale area.

Just doing the GPS one at the moment, I don't have Ozi yet. I bought a Garmin GPSMAP 60 CSx last November. I can work most features, but want to get to 'know' it better. Ozi will come as the budget allows...lol

Maybe see you there,

Cheers, Dave
