Nissan had our patrol allday again today but at least this time they fixed the problem, the loss of power and the engine light coming on turns out to be a problem with the intercooler, apparrently there is a butterfly in the intercooler and this was not opening they repaired it and it seems that we have our
old car back. Time will tell i suppose.

Good to hear Martin,
Also take a note that in the 3L GU it is common for the intercooler hoses to loosen and even pop off, throwing the cars sensors around.
If RACQ receive a callout about engine malfunctions, the intercooler is one of the first
places they
check first.
Happy trails,
Box

Just another spanner in the works, our intercooler was replaced under warranty, but for the reason that it cracked around the cores where they are joined to the tanks.
A friend at Parra Nissan in
Sydney said they had changed about 4 of these coolers with the same problem.
Remove the top intercooler cover and
check for oil weeps around the core joins.
Was this butterfly your talking about, part of the actual intercooler, as a new sensor came on the part, but i didnt take much notice of what it did..
