Well as I sit here its pouring rain from
Darwin to
Katherine which seems to be a good 6 or so weeks early compared to recent years.
We have had an early build up so the rain is welcome.
Looks like we will be in for a big wet if this is any indication.

G'day Sean,
I lived in
Darwin and environs from '68 to '96 with a few gaps in between and one thing was for sure...you could never tell what the WET was going to do. Sometimes when it rained 200mm in September everyone said Yeah..A big wet!! Then it wouldn't rain again till February and everyone would 'die' from the humidity. Suicide month in November came to the fore in full. But I must say it was a magical time for me in the Top End and I wish I could still handle the heat... that aside, I am not handling the cold very
well either :-) Need something in between.
Cheers

Hi Rick,
I did everything up north. Worked in the government on a couple of occassions...ran my own tour business into
Kakadu in the early '80s...published a magazine......wrote for 4x4 Australia....set up the NT 4x4 Association.....did some mud racing.....tripped sround the top end in the WET and the DRY.... and a host of other small jobs and contracts. LIved in
Darwin,
Batchelor and
Adelaide River. Started moving south in 92 but went back in 96 for a last look and then again in98 for a very last look then in 99 for a very very last look until next year hahahaha. I long for the tropics but can't take the heat anynmore...so sad.:-(
Cheers

Willie
hope it is an early wet becuase its been HOT and humid this past few weeks but the dry did start a little early and was superb. Just gotta hope those monsoons roll in in the not too distant future.\
But that said,
Darwin is a superb climate if you have a pool and airconditioning for the four or so weeks of the year that you really need them.
As you know, there are much more worse
places.

Be interesting if it is a big wet to see how that 1400 k leve from alice to
darwin stands up to it.

well lets hope it gets all of the rain over early, so this dry old country can recover, and more importantly, I can do that Simpson trip in **March**!!!
