Hi,
I am still planning my trip to NT from VIC and I was wondering if anybody has done the loop of Breakaways near Coober Pedy in 2WD. I'll be driving Falcon Station wagon with a ultimate camper trailer. Is it possible to do the whole loop with this car or I need 4wd (sand on the road?).
Thanks

No problems. We went there in a Coaster bus.. It's just a pretty good gravel road.

Hi
You will have no problems when dry, just watch out for any large rocks that could be on the road. You can do a complete circuit from the top of the lookout, then follow the track down and head out to the dog fence. Follow this to the main Coober Pedy to Oodnadatta Track then back into Coober Pedy. This is one feature that is very close to town and well worth the drive.

Cheers

Generally road is good. Just check it is not wet or rutted before going down from the lookout. The track in normally in very good condition but if it has rained all bets are off.
