They are double din units and mount right into the dash.
Ebay example.
I am not necessarily recommending the one in the ebay link. I do not know a lot about the latest trends. Maybe next lot will include a FULL PC in the dash. Just an "old man" looking for a better GPS for our sons car.
You will find quite a few on ebay. But be careful of one thing. The greater majority I have seen so far use an SD card for map storage. Ours came with a 4Gb SD card and the maps I wanted to use on Oziexplorer amounted to more than 4Gb. Luckily ours took a 8Gb card. We have a VMS AVNC Mk2. I have not used the street nav yet but it looks like any other one. At least I recorded my own voice for the instructions for Ozi. Why can't they use an Australian for the anouncements. nah He may use slang (as I did) that no one would understand these days. My wife nearly shot me when she heard "Left ya mug" come out of the speaker.
I will say though that once you get one in the dash you won't want the laptop. Unless of course you are "tied to society" with emails, the internet and so on. Poor people. Just cannot fly the nest. That's get a response I betchya.
Phil (hope the able to get up to that show as
well)
