Camping on the Mereenie Loop

Hi all, quick question, is it permitted to camp anywhere along the Mereenie Loop Rd aside from the designated camp sites at the resorts and townships? I plan on picking a permit up from Kings Canyon Resort heading Nth from Uluru but wanted to go a little further along before stopping for the night. Will be there around mid-late Jul so i expect lots of traffic.

I would suggest you head to Palm Valley for a night or two While you in the area. We went from Kings Canyon to there and while it wasn't a hole day it was a great pace to stop after the rattles of the Loop :-). I suppose you have already planned to go there in your trip. Just a thought
