Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing either BlackWolf Turbo 300 Plus or Oztent at next weeks Supershow.

Does anyone know if either tent suits on my roof rack of my Toyota Rav4? I read somewhere that the Oztent may be a problem on roof racks from all the rubbing on canvas. Just want to find out any advice or info on either tents on roof racks of Toyota Rav 4? Too long? etc

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks

The bw 300 plus lite is about 1.5m long and not too heavy (17kgs). The canvas one is quite a bit heavier but shouldn't be a problem in that regard. As long as it is tied to the racks securely and is inside a bag why would it rub?

Rhino Rack have a 2.1m mesh basket designed to hold these tents. I haven't used them but will be getting one when my OzTent arrives in a month's time.

Looks like that is what I should look at having to support the Oztent (or BlackWolf) properly when travelling.
I remember one of the members saying something bout that kind of roof rack to give the tents proper support and stop all that rubbing or something.

Either of these tents could be placed on a roof rack if secured correctly, don't know what you mean about rubbing, the tents are in a bag and nothing rubs.

Hi TerraFirma,

I tried finding the thread of one of the members saying its important to get the correct roof rack set up because just two roof racks won't do the job as good and there was bound to be rubbing or something.
I guess I can send an email to oztent to ask that kind of question.
Thanks

Hi there,

I have the Black Wolf Turbo 300 Plus and it fits on the roof of my wife's Rav no worries. We hopefully pick up our CT next week and will be selling the turbo. Its only been used for 1 week at a caravan park last October. PM if you're interested.

I made a purpose built rack for my OZtent using slotted angle and a couple of brackets on the roof bars. Worked really well

Hi mate,
Send me an email to renno29775@hotmail.com
I'm in western Sydney not that far from the show, at least it gives you an option.
Great tent by the way, we started with the 240 plus and found it a bit small, up sized to the 300 plus and found it was great for us, 2x adults and a 5YO..
