Hi everyone,

Just a quick one on navigation... bore, bore i know. But I just spent the last three hours reading through old posts and hopefully I have this right.

Ok, so I am thinking of going with the Laptop setup in car as we plan to use internet and DVD also.

Is this all I need?

1. OziExplorer $160.00
2. Natmaps $99.00
3. GPS mouse $75.00
4. Laptop converter $60.00
5. Laptop mount $150.00

Total $544.00

Thanks Lyndsey

Hi...You should be up and running with that setup.

One thing though...just get OziExplorer (not the package that includes OziCe and/or 3D) - this is all you will need and will save you ~$37 - OziExplorer

Would also suggest getting the ustralia 4WD Raster Map Collection on DVD if you can scrape up another $80. It includes the Natmaps plus wide range of Hemas maps as well which are good for planning.

Cheers

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the reply. The 4wd Raster map sounds better as we will be mostly off-road anyway. Is the 3-D not worth it ?

Hi

It is not possible for me to decide if Ozi3D is worth it or not, for you (though ~$30 isnt a huge sum of money). I have it, but dont use it much (though I dont run a laptop in the car either) - you may use it lots ?? It has its uses. You can download a copy from the OziExplorer website. Without a reg code it has some limitations on what you can do but at least its possible to have a little play before buying.

Cheers

Hi Lyndsey,
Cheap laptop adaptor:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5530
or
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5647

Prices are in $US, but the $A is good at present, and the postage is free. All ex-HK.
No connection, just a happy customer.

Hi Greg,
got that $100 5" navigator from the same web site, very happy, runs OziCE just fine.

cheers,
Gerry
