Canning Stock Route

We are going to do Canning Stock Route in July 2010. Three vehicles - two Landcruiser utes - well off the ground and one 2010 Toyota Hilux Twin cab.

The question is - will the Hilux have enough clearance without jacking it at all. Owners are planning to put long range fuel tank underneath and roof rack on top. They will be tenting it and not towing anything.

The 4 x 4 experience has been mainly Victorian Alps and High Country as well asCape York via Overland Telegraph and Longreach/Karumba/Kingfisher/Mt Isa/Birdsville Track

Slightly off topic but on the fridge

What worked great for us when we did the Canning was to share the fridges amongst our group; One was a dedicated freezer, which becomes important when you travel 3 weeks between supplies. One was dedicated food and the other was a drinks fridge

Enjoy, it is a great trip!

Torza,

All three vehicles should not have a problem on the CSR.

Deflate the tyres, take you time and enjoy.

The lastest Kedron DVD is released this weekend and is on the CSR. I believe they had some tyre problems so might be worth a look. Getting released at the caravan show in Sydney.

hilux wont have problem with standard suspension. take your time, let your tyres down and enjoy the trip. three things cause problems travelling too fast, overloading and not letting tyres down.
PS have travelled the CSR 3 times and thoroughly enjoyed it every time.

If a standard height Prado can easily do the Canning, then a Hilux Ute will too
Drop your tyres down to approx 15 psi, and go for it.

Just take your time, and stay off those rediculous longer runups, they are for the "55 pound club"

Cheers
Bucky
