Hi Wayne,
I am also keeping an eye on the Plenty, heading up there in July.
For some up to date info on the Plenty take a look at these two links...

http://www.racq.com.au/benefits_and_discounts/road_conditions

Have said it before and will say it again , phone the local council for the area and ask for the council's road gang foreman's number ,he,s the bloke that opens and closes roads and then passes the info onto the police and Racq ect ect ,

Sounds like a good idea if I knew which council to contact. Boullia I would think is the closest town but that is in QLD. Maybe the place with the police station about halfway along the Plenty, anyway I will see what I can find out

Wayne

Be good to hear how you get on. I'm currently planned to go that way in a titch over 2 weeks if all's good. Latest information I can find on the web is NT side is closed due to flooding. Qld govt web site, link, doesn't say anything is wrong on QLD side. RACQ, which I think is old info, says closed.

Cheers
Shane

Were interested in that route as well, considering heading that way Mid May and from there up to the Tanami and then the Kimberlys. So really interested in the conditions and the time we should allow.
Cheers,
Phil

QLD Gov say Windorah to Bedourie is closed.
Plenty open to 4WD vehicles west of QLD border.

Looks like we will be going south first and maybe back home via the Plenty

Gees its hard to plan a trip. Some information stated the road is open. Other sites say its closed.

Oz states Windorah to Bedourie open to 4WD
Qld Gov say its closed.

Guess I will ring someone on Windorah and ask a local

Rang Windorah today they said road is open via Birdsville to Bedourie

Cant go direct Windorah to Bedourie.

That adds quite a few km on the trip.Dam
