travelling up to
Broken Hill and on to Cameron's Corner at end of May. Wondering if there are any
camp spots around
Silverton? Am towing a campertrailer. Many thanks.

We were in
Broken Hill just last week and had a look at
Penrose Park just outside of
Silverton (didn't stay there, we were at the Lakeview Caravan Park) and thought it was quite good. Quiet and just a short-ish walk into
Silverton. Plenty of room and has a playground if you're so inclined. Would probably stay there next time.

Penrose is nice, particularly if you are travelling with a big group. It is pretty basic, somewhere between
bush camping and a CV Park. It is 25km out of
Broken Hill so if you want to see the attractions of the city bear that in mind.
Also if you are travelling through on the way to Tib and Camerons you have to back track into
Broken Hill to get onto the Silver City Highway. You can travel north out of
Silverton it is an interesting drive but a fair bit slower than the highway. While the route is easy to find you could also easily take a wrong turn and have an even bigger adventure.
There are two parks in
Broken Hill, both are pretty good. When visiting the
Hill I used to stay at Lakeview, on the
Sydney side of town. It has nice grassed sights which are reasonably level. The amenities are clean and functional. Try to get down the northern end of the park as it is further from the highway.
The
Broken Hill CV park on the
Adelaide Rd is also quite nice. When I lived in town one of my work collegues was related to the manager, so we used to visit there from time to time. The park does not have grass, the camping sights are covered with mulch, bark or woodchips. It too is clean and
well kept with good functional amenities. Try to get a sight down the back away from the road. About a million trucks a night go right passed the front
gate.
Any of the above options offer good options for accomodation depending on what you want.
