Gidday All,

Going a caravaning holiday soon and contemplating going thru Hughenden then Charters Towers, then up thru Oasis Roadhouse, Mt garnet, Atherton to Cairns.
I would love some advise on the road conditions, scenery, etc etc

Ta Mick

If your going soon the conditions will be wet, and the scenery will include lots of heavy rain and perhaps the odd cyclone.

I cant quite remember how much is dirt and the road was quite good when it was 24degrees and dry........ you will have to ring qld authorities to find out how it is when you are going..._____________________________________________

Mick,
As with all Qld roads, take the inland ones with care after all they are some of the worst in Oz. But with due care and no haste go inland and see it all it's a great state with great weather however this time of the year thru to Mch the wet sets in with a vengence in the nth so watch any water courses as they can run very fast.
But Hey lifes an adventure so get up n go.

The roads you mention are all black top, with the narrow section between Oasis Roadhouse and Mt Garnet, the edges are wide enough to get off and allow Road Trains past but best to stop and tell them to stay on the top and you will get over.

Scenery is changing all the time but gets better past Mt Garnet with heaps of places to stop for a cuppa, check with the nomads re free overnight stops.
