GQ PATROL LONG RANGE FUEL TANK- WHAT SORT OF FILLER HOSE??

Hi, we have a GQ Patrol that has LPG/petrol and when the LPG was put on a long range fuel tank was installed as the gas tank is where the petrol tank was all this done before we bought it. anyway our trouble is that the original filler hose (blue corrugated type) has gone rock hard and split, and we have since found out that that hose doesn't meet legislation any more, so we need to buy a new hose and can't seem to findout what hose is used now or where to get it from, so we are hoping that someone out there knows what is used or where we can try to buy it. the measurements are- where it fits to the tank is 41.29mm, the filler neck is 42.61mm and the flang on the filler neck is 45.64mm, and is between 1.5 to 2 metres long, because of where the hose goes it has slight curves but not sharp bends.
thanks from Chris.

thanks for that i just tried them and because we have unleaded their hoses are not suitable because they don't know how the petrol will react with the hose, so they wont sell it to us, from chris.

I have a brown davis long range tank in my GQ. they use 2 pieces of pre-bent steel pipe joined by a short rubber pipe in the middle.
I would recommend ringing them in QLD - Im sure they would be able to assist. Mine is unleaded, so the fuel hose they are using will be correct.

regards
Bryan

Hi Chris
Look for an industrial hose supplier. In Melbourne we have Purple Pig they supply all different types and sizes of hoses.

G`day Chris,
I installed an auxillary tank last year and used exhaust pipe up and over the axle and connected to the tank and filler using the fuel (oil) rated Hydraulic hose from a Hydraulic Engineering Firm. Hose is the same as is used on drilling rigs etc.
Expensive to buy but better than having a failure due to buying the incorrect type.

Regards,

Scrubby.

hi, i have been on the phone and the net most of the day trying to sort this out. the only hose i have found is getting it from Melbourne at the cost of $250 for 2 metres. i did find one place in Adelaide today that deal with hoses and belts and they had the right size hose and all seemed good until he asked what sort of fuel we use, when i said unleaded he wont sell me any as the hose they have they don't know how it would react with unleaded even though it is fine with diesel, but he said that because there are so many types of unleaded they can't test the hose with it and don't know how long it would last, so another company got crossed off of my ever shortening list.
thanks for all the help so far chris.

hi, yes have looked at them but the hose size is wrong as they go from 38mm to 45mm, the 38mm is to small and the 45mm works out to large for the tank end. most places only seem to have those sizes that's why we don't know what to use.
we are going to try to see if we can get our local engineering works to sleeve the pipes to bring it down to 38mm and then hopefully all will be good.
thanks from chris.
