Hi everyone, just returned from the cape and found that the roads were excellent apart from about 50k of corrugations around
Fruit Bat Falls. (if you forget the dust and the Dips)
BEST
CAMP: Archer River
SECOND BEST: Bramwell
Junction
BEST SITE: The Falls
SECOND BEST:
The Tip
BIGGEST SURPRISE: Thursday Island
BIGGEST DISSAPOINTMENT:
Somerset Graves (look very neglected)
BEST TYRES: Bridgestone (No punctures)
BEST VEHICLE: 80 Series (Nothing broke and didn't leak dust like the 200 Series)
Regards

Yeah, good old 80 series. We did the same and had no dust or breakdowns either. We actually camped at
Somerset for 4 days (had it to ourselves for 2 days) and apart from the illegal rubbish dump at the rear found it our best
camp.
Great place for a trip, glad you enjoyed it.

It would be a
great camp site, I was just disappointed that the
graves weren't fenced off and protected a little more.

Hi CJ,
We only explored part of the OTL from the Falls north and there were a couple of spots which looked ok. Archer River had good facilities and a great swimming area on the River, not to mention the burgers.

What corrugations? If the roads get any better I'll be giving refunds :-)

Yes, we travelled at about 80-90k on the good roads and about 60-70 on the corrugations so it was still comfortable. We were quite conservative with our speed and there were a few locals that sailed straight past us at much higher speeds.

Hi,
No we didn't do the
CREB track just went up through
Cow Bay and Cape Trib. Not sure if it's open yet but has been dry up there so it should be ok.

We have just returned from the Cape, now on
Atherton Tablelands.
The
CREB Track was closed when we came through.
The OT track is open all the way and roads are in good shape.
