We are travelling through this area in two weeks time and wondered if there are any other flight operators doing the flights, other than the William Creek operator?
Does anyone know how busy the W/C flights are?

Cheers Trevor

Trevor, you don't have to fly out of WC - there are a couple of operators out of Marree. They also fly over the Cooper water and over the ferry - these flights are about $240 I believe. Google it - should give you timelines and prices.

Hi Ruth
And if you are lucky enough, you might get your hair parted when out on a yellow kayak....LOL

Stephen, that was so funny - I was filming the ducks up towards the ferry but facing the west. Fiona was facing east filming you in the kayak with the movie - I called out a warning to Fiona who didn't move (busy talking to herself on the movie) - just as well she didn't move because then the filmed the Red Baron trying to dislodge you from the kayak and scare the .......out of Larry and Des on the ferry. Bet she got good footage, and the plane rego! Then his friends turned up and tried it twice more - but wasn't as scary as the first one. Idiots.

Hi Ruth
It is a very small world and from people that I know that fly in Clare and were up there for the same weekend, it was a chap from the Macclesfield in SA and I believe his name is "Mick". The reason why the plane was so bright and shiny, was that he has only just finished building it and it has not been painted as yet.

I would have needed more than a change of underwear if the planes motor started to spit and sputter, as there would have be only one plane for him to go, straight into the Cooper between me and the ferry.

Cheers

Yep, Australia is a very small country town isn't it - sometimes. Always pays to be very careful when out in the bush - someone always knows something. Having lived in Birdsville for so long it has always made me wonder why pilots think they can get away things 'outback' that they wouldn't dare try in the city. Some of the stunts at Bdv would curl your hair - the one at the ferry tho takes the cake! Wonder if Mick realises how famous he is. LOL.

Hi Trevor,

This time last year we took a flight from WC over Lake Eyre and the Painted Hills. We had the earliest flight so the light was great and the flight was smooth. We thought that the Painted Hills section was the highlight of the flight - but the flight over the lake was pretty good too. See our blog for further details.

Cheers,

Val

Support the locals at William Creek.
They operate there good times and bad.

Hi Trevor

We did the 2.5hr flight from Maree with Wrights Air, last week, up to the punt on Coopers Creek, then followed the Creek to Lake Eyre . . . Top shelf, great value @ $250 pp.

Enjoy

Hi Lotzi
Please put some pictures up, as it would have looked unreal from the air. How many were in the plane and did you have to pre book? When we head back again, we thought that a flight may be in the must do things as well.

Cheers

Hi Stephen

We didnt have to wait or book, when we arrived in Maree, the chap at the caravan park refered us across the tracks to the general store, we were in luck and pretty much were on a plane an hour later.. great, fantastic, worth every cent.

But now that the school holidays are on us there may be a wait.

Images, images, just going through them now and then have to work out how to reduce their size and address.

Thanks for your help in the past Stephen

Cheers

Hi Lotzi
The photos below look great and I can pick the first one, showing the ferry site from the southern bank and I must say it looks unreal from the air.

Thank you for posting those pictures

Cheers
