Well, don't know where you buy it, but I was getting on a Qantas 737 a couple of weeks ago in Alice and they were loading it in the galley... So at least someone has it there. Try yellow pages on line...

I got some from CIG in
Melbourne a couple of years ago so I imagine a gas supplier would sell it in the alice. Hope this helps.

Howdy...just found out you can buy dry ice from a company called Air Liquid and there're at 21 Baker St Botany.
You can get it as crushed pellets for $4.20kg or in 5kg blocks for $5.70kg. Perhaps a good way to store it would be to place it on the bottom of the esky followed by a stanless steel plate and or plastic insulation. That way you keep prevent cold burns etc.

There are a couple of
places in Alice that sell it. You might want to order ahead as they only used to get limited amounts. If you want a large quantity that is.

DamienI would advise against placing it staright on the bottom of the esky as you will shorten its life fairly dramatically. The plastic will crack.
Try pouring about 30-50mm of party ice on bottom, wack dry ice in middle and put remainder of wet ice around the sides. That will protect your esky, give you a top deep freeze and some wet ice for later.
Also don't put milk, tomatoes etc with it as if they freeze they end up fizzy like a soft drink.
Happy chillingRosco

Don't go putting a few pellets in a plastic bottle with water and sealing. They make a hell of a bang and scare lots of people. I advise against it. Totally irresponsible.Nice southerly coastal fishing trip someday.

The best bottles to use are the thick water bottles.
