G'day,
I am currently in the process of creating an itinerary for our trip which will consist of visiting VIC, NSW and SA. We will be sleeping in swags and are hoping to stay in "bush" style camps etc. I have been researching to try and find
camp sites for each town we intend to stop over at but am struggling to find
camp sites at the following towns:
Wentworth,
Tilpa,
Bourke,
Tibooburra,
Hawker,
Broken Hill and
Mildura.
If anyone would be able to help me out with spots for the above towns it would be great.

Hi Nicho,
You're not likely to find bush style camps actually in towns, although the national park
campground is on the northern edge of
Tibooburra. Have you got a copy of Camps Australia - that will show you a lot of free camps, mostly away from towns a bit. In NSW state forests are a good place to
camp too.
Just south of
Mildura is the Hattah
Kulkyne NP where there are some good camps near the River. About 20km west of
Wentworth is Fort Courage which is a
campground owned by a big fishing club, but its open to the public - cost us $14 for a night there last year - top spot with a
great camp kitchen.
HTH, cheers,
Val

G'day Nicho
Rawnsley Park Station is about 30k north of
Hawker & south of Wilpenna Pound.
Bush camping available separate from caravan park area & up-market eco villas. Have stayed there several times.

The trouble with Camps Australia is that all the Caravaners get in to the sites nice and early and you have no chance of putting up a tent, particularly if the sited are free. Try putting up a tent on the
Cooper Creek near
Windorah QLD, its wall to wall caravans.
So if you would like a book that shows sites that a lot of caravans cant go, see Cathy Savage and Craig Lewis book "Camping Australia" from Explore Australia Publishing P/L.
Tent Campers Unite, and stop the caravaners spreading like Cane Toads.....!!!!!

Wilga Station
campground is a NP
camp area about 50km west of
Tilpa, BBQ and
toilets provided by NP's and there are plenty of areas to
camp alongside the river between Wilga Station (NP owned) and the
campground.

Nicho, here is a link to a bush style
camp just out of
Broken Hill.
Penrose Park Silverton
It is where we are going to have the EO National Gathering next year.
There are plenty of camping sites at Kings
Billabong upstream from
Mildura.
