Great northern Highway closed

Just for information of everyone, the Great Northern Hy is closed 85 kilometers west of
Fitzroy crossing. There is a 7 kilometer section of roadworks, that has caused a detour. It is here, that a semi is bogged and hence the road closure.
No information on opening at this stage and it is still raining in
Fitzroy Crossing.
Accomodation in
Fitzroy Crossing is drying up quicker than, a rain drop heading for the centre of the sun.
The is a
free camp site 5 kilometers short (on the eastern side) of the closure but how full this is I am not certain.

Cape Leveque road closed,
Windjana gorge &
Tunnel creek Nat.
Park closed,Lennard Gorge closed,
Bell Gorge closed,King Leopold Consevation
park closed,also a lot of rain around Balgo area so Tanimi Road probably suspect as
well.Large crowd waiting at Willare roadhouse as
well for the highway to open.
Forcast for rain easing in southern part of the
Kimberley but more expected towards the end of the week.This is as reported on ABC
Kimberley this morning.

1600hrs local and the rain has stoppped falling. My caravan still has it's own personal swimming pool however.

Hi All
Has anyone got an update today on the
Cape Leveque road ? We are booked at Kooljiman tomorrow night so planning to drive up tomorrow if the road is open....not looking great at this stage.
