Nothing to do with 4WD, but.....
After persisting with dialup all year and having a (very) brief look at Telstra ADSL, I've now got Optus Cable and it's GREAT! Haven't timed it officially, but am getting download speeds of about 500 KB (Bytes, not bits!) per sec. About 100 times faster than 56 Kb dialup. Apologies if you can't get it........Russell S

Yeah,
I can't get cable but recently got iprimus ADSL, a million times better than dial-up.
Also constructed a wireless LAN in the house (ridiculously easy with Mac) and so can wander around the house and back yard on-line !!
Regards,
Brad.

I'm with you Russell! I've had cable for just over 12 months and it really rocks. I recently had a wireless router installed with it and can now read the ExplorOZ forums on my lappie from anywhere in the house without the need for any cables (much to my wifes annoyance). 8-)

Ray,
Our town needs a mechanic. There is a whole servo going up for auction on November 7. You can still buy a house in
Peterborough for under $50,000.
Richard,
Satelite? Do I look like Mr Moneybags?...
what's this about two way?....and what can I get a rebate on?...so many questions but does the polar (e)mu have the answers???????????
Cheers,
Willie

I love broadband and work in IT. I have heard some horror stories about ridiculously high bills. Most people think they will never use the 500 meg download limit or whateverr the limit may be, however these cable conections are so fast you find yourself download things you wouldnt have even tried to do with dial up. Exess download are billed at very high rates.
This situation is mostly a problem if you have kids using the net who sart to download games and mp3 (music) etc.
Some ADSL connections have a fixed monthly bill and a download limit, when you exceed the limit the speed of your connection is slowed down until the next month. The slow speed is still fater than a dial up connection but you never end up paying more in a month.
Shop around when buying broadband but remeber you generally get what you pay for. Some service providors sell more bandwidth than they can reliably provide, the result is a slow service.

Hi Diamond
Don't wait !!!! if you can get a deal with (Op***) go for it.
Been on OP*** cable about 3 years now best money I,ve spent,
sure it's not cheap ( just a bit more than a bottle of Glavaa)
but generally very reliable rarely have I been off line.
Some advantages -- running 24hrs, Email arrival notice's, ICQ,
no dial up charges, no noisey modems, do down loads in a flash.
I pay $72 for 3G a month in
Melbourne not sure how "Bob" in
Sydney gets 30G for $62 'I would like to be on that plan Bob'.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Cheers
PS No connections with the industry.
