Hello All.

I am a new member, and also a new caravan owner. I am seeking assistance in finding a place to go with the family in our new van. I am fully self sufficient with no need for water or power, and actually would prefer some solitute. I also would prefer somewhere where i can stop the 4wd with the van alongside some water. Possibly even do some fishing?. Happy to pay for the priveledge on a private property available.

Thank you in advance

Jason

Jason,

Might be a little bit more than 2 hrs, but try either Newnes or Dunns Swamp

Look at [url=http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/NationalParks/parkCamping.aspx?id=N0051]Camping at Newnes or Dunns Swamp in Wollemi National Park for more details

Cheers,

Cruiser

Dunns Swamp is one of the nicest places you will ever see but unfortunately it is within reach of Sydney and easily accessible to 2wd vehicles so it is usually packed on weekends. Mid week in winter is probably the only time you will get any solitude there.

Hi Jason.

On the side of Sydney we have always enjoyed "Lake St. Clair (Hunter Valley), and Myall Lakes (Hawks Nest)' If not going in School holidays they are very quiet,

Cheers

you could try Upper Colo Reserve approx 30mins from Windsor ,adjacent to to the Colo River, basic toilets and showers bbqs etc, need to book through Hawkesbury council for over night stays as gates are locked after hours [caretaker nearby] to stop the unwanted hoons, great in the warmer months for soaking in the river or just a day trip

Our family went here in August and it was fantastic. Kids (4&7yrs) had a ball and there was hardly anyone there. You do have to book as the next weekend was going to be full of horses for a horse meet!

Take a blow up boat if you have kids as it's a slow moving shallow river.

Have fun!

PS, Turon Gates is also fantastic (just not at Easter when the weather is bad on the coast, everyone heads inland!!!)
