Beach Driving around the great ocean road

Hi Jason, I live just past Anglesea on the Great Ocean Road and do not know of any beach where you can drive along our wonderful coast. Unfortunately it is not like Cable Beach and beyond. There is a camping ground at Breamlea or Bancoora Beach, but not quite sure what the facilities provide. Suggest you check the website www.greatoceanrd.org.au which may be helpful to you. About 30 mins west of Apollo Bay is a place called Hordern Vale. Turn left of the Great Ocean Road and proceed to the eastern side of the Aire River you'll find a couple tracks that wind their way almost to the beach. They are not spectacular tracks but it's about as close as you can get to beach driving in Victoria. About 10 years ago you could actually drive onto the beach and up and down it for that matter!!

Beach driving is against the law in Victoria. You can drive legally in South Aus. in the Robe area. You can also drive on the beach just north of Noosa Heads for about 40km to Rainbow Beach then across on the ferry for more at Fraser Island. The beach there is actually designated as a "highway" and is a great drive.
