Bluetooth GPS for Nokia

David might be able to answer this.

I need a recommendation for a bluetooth GPS receiver compatible to a Nokia 6120 . . . . Brand / model / and approx price please.

Also . . . what is the best mapping software for the same phone. I believe something is available for free download. If so, does it get installed via phone dial-up ??

I have just ordered the GSM Tracker from EO.

Thanks . . . . . .

Nokia offer free voice guided navigation from the Nokia app store called ovi maps, do a search here ovi store , I had a quick look and it looks like it is available for your phone, I find it works as well as any of the stand alone nav devices like Tomtom etc, Rhys.

I'm back to playing with the toys again Rhys.

I've had a look at the ovi store and need to clarify exactly which of the map apps you were talking about. Searching "maps" leaves me with a few options.

There are:Explorers Tracker, - NavFun Pro, - HandyWi, - ????

Hopefully there is something that incorporates Google or Hema maps. Is there ?

What can you tell me please ?????

Salt grinder ,

I have one of these for my walkabouts - Bluetooth connects to my Nokia N97 ..

Seems OK to me - takes about 20-30 seconds to locate satellites ..

Bluetooth GPS with Solar

Cheers

A Globalsat BT 338 or 353 will do the job perfectly have been using a 338 for 2 years with complete success.

A Nokia 6120 will navigate without one At least mine runs Tomtom on its own and has done for a long time.

Only used the 338 for the laptop and my Nikon camera

Graham, just to confirm . . . the BT338 will work with bluetooth OK, but your Nokia 6120 uses tomtom mapping software for all over Oz. If so . . . where / how did you get the TT software for the 6120 ?

It will be interesting with the BT388 as I also have Nikon SLR gear. So I guess that the GPS receiver has a suitable connector to the camera . . . or was that an extra when you purchased the 338 ??

Off Ebay for Tomtom.
Cant remember where.
Is not strictly legal perhaps but I did get an update off the seller.
It is street mapping only NOT OFFROAD

It works as good as my Go 730 and has voice guidance.

I might still have the disc with it on if you are lucky.

I have a Red Hen systems receiver for my D200.

Bought from USA for about $300 a couple of years ago

They now have a new system for the D200

Not all older Nikons have GPS ability. The new ones have it built in

Salt Grinder,

I have a 6120 and have used the Ovi maps, these work OK. I user a GlobalSat blue tooth GPS and have had no major problems with this configuration. I do not have the unit near me so cannot check the model but it also works with my PDA system and is mounted to the 4in1 cradle, so this is not a standalone unit. We used to sell these units but it became too difficult and we had to drop out of selling these.

Graham,

I do have a couple of 353's and we do sell these but the BT one is different however I cannot find the darn thing at the moment. I am also heading out to Yeppoon in the morning for the Capricon Half iron Man on Sunday so my head is not really into looking for it.
