Try a paint stripper heat gun on a low setting to soften the sticker and they easier to get off, used it on our 20ft van to remove the pin stripping and van logo............

Cleaned up any hard to budge residue with selleys sugar soap.

Used a hair-dryer first but it couldn't handle the constant long use.

good luck

Yep I agree.
I brought a really cheap heat gun from Bunnings and stickers I previously thought were impossible to remove just peeled away.

Try using a hair dryer to warm them up.... then you should be able to remove them. It's worked for me quite a few times!

Cheers

I got rid of the Defender decals on my old Land Rover which were very hard and faded, with rubber disk thingy that I got from a auto paint place.

Apparently it's used by the pros to get pinstiping and similar stuff off.

You just put it on the end of a drill. It kind of works like a large high speed eraser. Took me an hour to get rid of about 1.5 sq m of hard stuff that hadn't shifted any other way.

Di,

Remove as much of the sticker as possible to enable the dissolver to penetrate better.

Try Orange Power Sticky Spot and Goo Dissolver. It comes in a small orange bottle of 110ml and should be available from your local supermarket.

Gday
We used to blow them off with the high pressure washer on cold. The stickers break off and float away.

Try Preen spot remover or No More Bugs
I have found that you have to spray it on in small areas allow to soak for awhile & then hit the same area again and use a plastic scraper similar to the type you would use in a deep freeze or frig to remove caked on ice etc.
If all else fails use eucalyptus oil same instructions as above

Hi Di

I have had to do this exact thing to quite a few of my vehicles over the years. Most of the options above I have used to great affect. When they are really old and etched on there are only a few options that have worked for me without damaging the paint. The best place to get advice or the equipment I recommend is your local panel beater or graphic/sign writing (sticker) place

Firstly I would try PREPSOL which is a grease and wax removing solvent (like thinners) which will dissolve the glue without damaging the paint at all (unlike thinners or paint stripper). Just rub it on soaking the stickers with an old rage (great for removing Tar from your vehicle/van also.

Secondly I would try a heat gun and a plastic scraper (from sticker place/window tinters) this is what the graphics places use for removing stickers and window tint, and the plastic scraper doesn't scratch.

Finally when all else has failed, the pros use a rubber (like an eraser) on a drill attachment. This simply rubs the stickers of as it rotates in the drill. This does not scratch or leave any marks at all.

I have used all of these methods and have never failed. Don't use the Prepsol around you heat gun as it is highly flammable.

Regards

Jason
