Current conditions on the Strzlecki (Innamincka south to Lyndhurst) needed.

Has anyone been on the Strzlecki Track this past week? What were the road conditions like? I'd like a recent assessment as to how affected the track is by water/mud at the present time to assess travel times. All road sites give the track as open and with caution/4x4 warnings.

EO international members Scott and Gaby (Canada) are heading that way as I type and are a bit nervous as to weather forecasts and the current state of the track heading down from Innamincka.

Rain is forecast at Leigh Creek today and next Tuesday which almost corresponds with their timings so my gut feel is to tell them to head out via Broken Hill.

Any advice gratefully received.

Have a look at the BoM site for SA - all forecasts - computer models for rainfall (right under the frost risk warnings) and click SA / Tuesday
The predicted rain is all south of Leigh Creek and on Wednesday is between 1 and 5 mm reaching further north
I am watching it closely at the moment as we are due to go up the Birdsville this week to have agander at the Cooper and then Lake Eyre
Cheers

Came through that way on Friday - not all the Strz, but what we did do was good. Just a few boggy sections, but with hard ruts through them where the traffic had been - only had to back off, or change down, no need to stop or tricky 4WDing!! A couple of red flags too, but nothing to write home about.

The rain forcasted could have changed all that though - the slightest sprinkle has been putting the locals off the roads, as there is so much ground moisture anything extra just makes it /really/ wet and boggy.

Hope that helps!

It does and thanks muchly. They're through and near Beltana now so they must have found the road in good condition.

Cheers. Mick
