Hi Everyone.
I am about to relocate from Perth to Sydney for work.
Towing a 2t Van ( J Heritage) behind a 2003 3 ltr manual Patrol.
Heavily loaded due to it being an actual move.
Tom Tom tells me its right on the 4k mark.
Factory standard 90 ltr main and 30 ltr reserve tanks.

Thought I was Flush but as it turns out, while I'm ok the money is a bit tighter than I had anticipated. Just wondering if anyone out there has some trip stats on fuel economy that may be helpful.
I am guessing around 19ltr to the 100 at 90kmh.

All thoughts appreciated and thank you.

Sounds about right unless you get a head wind across the Nullabor.

Surely one of the thousands of exploroz users has towed a van from Perth to Sydney or vice versa and has an idea what their total fuel consumption was ?

Bump.
Leaving day after tomorrow.

Just home in WA from towing a very light camper trailer across Nullabor so our fuel useage not relevant. If time not a problem suggest drop your speed to 85kph & check weather/wind forcasts every day. If strong headwinds be prepared to lay up for a day. We topped up at Penong $1.31.0 and then Mundrabilla $1.61.9. Cheers Heather

We averaged 17.5l per 100k over 50,000k Van is 2800kg and car 3200kg
Travelled mostly at 90kph in 4th gear ALWAYS.
Vehicle is as seen a 4.2TD auto.

hi shilo
dont want to put a jinks on you but
id be more concerned about what its going to cost you if your 2003 nissan grenade goes bang out on the nulla with the big load behind it
rather than the cost of the fuel
hope you make it
cheers

Maz.

My Pet hate.
The post was neither useful or nice.
I feel this is best summed up by me posting another reply I once made to a similar post in the Nissan Patrol forum.

It is my observation that the reason the ZD30 debate has become such an issue, particularly here in this forum is because the two opposing camps have become emotionally attached to it. On the one hand you have owners of post 2002 machines (such as myself) defending their engines.
This camp has generally done their research and backed up their beliefs with investments exceeding 30 thousand dollars, time, care and many hours of first hand experience.

On the other hand you have non ZD30 owners. This camp generally have no first hand experience, have invested little or no time investigating the issue and certainly have not backed up their beliefs with cold hard cash. What this camp gains from bagging post 2002 ZD30 engines is a sense of self righteous smugness that their machines are by default comparatively better and that by sprouting verbatim ill-informed dogma they appear to be more knowledgeable than they actually are

And incidently. If you really did have an understanding of the issue you would realise that the term "grenade" is related only to post 2003 3 ltr turbo's.

hi shilo
you finished your original thread question

with:::

all thoughts appreciated and many thanks

i simply passed my "thoughts" onto you after veiwing your question in a very down to earth and simplistic way on the issue the way i saw it
with no intensions of it being not nice and/or nasty

many people read these threads and see things from a different point of view

to what the original poster like your self thinks

and there are many and varied opinions right across the board

many people on here will also have viewed my comments and silently hoped that your vehicle does'nt go bang given the task your presenting it with

you claim that none after 2003 have had a problem
well thats not what i'm reading and hearing
but then it comes back to different opinions which we are all democratically entitled to and i respect yours

your reply to me could also be taken by some to have a not

so nice element
but you probably cant see that from your point of view

and that's exactly the point of view that i'm making
many and varied are given

if you post a thread asking for all thoughts and/or opinions
well then you should be more excepting of the fact that that's what you may get without them ment to be not nice and/or nasty

i have not made this reply with any intensions of it becoming a slaying match
just my thoughts and opinion on how this has transpired
i have no further issue with or or on this matter and
i hope your trip is trouble free and enjoyable
cheers
