Hi All,

I've noticed that some of the rustproof coating that I had applied to my RA Rodeo has started to come off, just a couple of small patches.

Can anybody recommend a product that I can apply easily enough to cover these bare patches?

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes water can get behind it and lift it off.

Thats why they stopped using undercoating years ago cos it trapped the water and caused more rust than it prevented.
Otherwise if you are painting over old rust you need to clean it with a precoat before painting or it will just keep on keeping on.

hit your patches with a wire brush and a sanding disc on an angle grinder to get clean, hit it with dioxdine wipe on let sit for a 5 mins, then wipe off with thinners on rag, surface should be rough, but not overly, just enough for mechanical adhesion, light coat of a good quality primer, then some paint/ wax guard, stone guard, and some colour paint, that should fix your problem.

I hope this helps, i know its a bit labour intesive, but no rust is better ta\han some rust

G`day Greg,
Try to get some "Pabco Brushable Hydroseal No 155". As the name says it`s a paint on Bituminous coating. Very good with many uses.
Should be available from hardware or paint outlets.

Regards,

Scrubby.

That Pabco Hydroseal is great stuff. I have done the whole of the underside of my van with it, put it on thick and it sticks like ...t. Greg , I would also recommend googling "Permanent Painted Coatings" based in Sydney. They have a fantastic range of paints and coatings. I have no fiscal connection but use their POR15 a lot and it is tough.
