Turbodiesel engines work better when fed cool air, hence the now almost standard aftercoolers fitted to these engines.
Many people have further reduced inlet air temperatures by the use of fans and/or by insulating the inlet tract from the radiant/soak heat generated by other engine components, thus gaining noticeable improvements in performance and economy.
Taking this a little further, has anyone wrapped/insulated the exhaust side of their turbocharger, perhaps with one of the kits in the links, and if so, what were the results ?

If you are thinking of using the heat wrap, don't. It causes your exhaust and housing to crystalise. If you want to heat treat get it ceramic coated, a mate of ours used to own a company called Procoat in
Sydney which is still in operation. There is more info on their website

Thanks Leon, very useful info. My dump pipe is already ceramic coated, it's just the exhaust side of the turbo I was looking at. Wrapping turbo's seems quite common, but only on racing engines, and I suppose crystallisation isn't a problem for them because the engines are rebuilt so often.
