Maree to Mungerannie is open to 4wd, I would anticipate that Mungerannie to Birdsville should open up soon then based on above.

However could still be an interesting drive and lets not even mention getting everyone over the punt. Sat there for 21 hours couple of weeks ago coz the wind was blowing too hard for it to operate, Didn't really care had an inpromtu party instead

Cheers

Hi Barry
At this stage it will be fly in and fly out. Innamincka races were cancelled and were to be held this weekend, so even if they were still on, with the roads closed nobody would be able to get there either.

The trouble is that roads can open one day, more rain the next and then it is back to square one.

Cheers

Stephen

Same problem here as we are heading up for the races as well. The weather is looking good up until Thursday but after that who knows. Roads open and close in a flash.
Whatever it's the outback and there is bugger all you can do. We'll be heading north no matter what and there is always plan B, which we'll work out as we go.

Yes the drive will be interesting and the rain does keep coming just a spit now and it's all over if the track gets closed they close the ferry. The highest rainfall Marree end was 15ml but Birdsville end was higher and more days of rain. I guess you take the risk but I'd be even sus on the Windorah road if it rains anymore.
Did the supply truck get through ? hopefully in time for the races.
Long range foecast says no more rain until 6th - 10th Sept. but they didn't forcast the last 2inchs they reckon the water in Lake Eyre makes it's own rain system
