Shaker,

All people have to start somewhere.

GB,

That is quite a good explaination of why not to use the Caps Lock Key.

I guess that is true, but they also learn by being told, as I was in the early days.

No wonder people leave this site or are afraid to ask questions with this sort of response likely

That is downright rude and totally uncalled for.

Hi Aggie,
all the vans I have seen with gas fridges have been as you say. Best thing is to try and darken around the aperture and see if you can see the flame then. Can be a bit of a pain at times.

Most van fridges have either a small prism or mirror to allow you to view the pilot light. Check to see of there is not one there which has not been knocked out of place or out of alignment.

If there is not one there, work out whether the light can be seen with a small mirror and, if so, use some bluetac to fix a small mirror in the right place.

Been there, done that

hi aggie
on the gas fridges of that vintage the mirrow may have become dirty
or

the other thing that can course a problem which i found while renovating an 80's caravan last year

was that there is what i call a vision tube attached between the mirrow and ends close to the burner at the rear this tube which is about 25mm in diameter fits close to the mirrow assembly and creates a dark tunnel back to the burner which allows you to clearly see the burner flame

if this tube has been damaged and or dislodged from it correct position it will allow normal daytime light in to the normally dark tube and distaught the mirrow vision so that the clear view of the burner is iliminated by this source of light entering the tube
or there could also be a spider web in this tube blocking this vision

i had to remove the fridge and tilt it over to get to and fix the tube back in place i also cleaned the mirrow while at it
i was then able to see the burner flame through the viewing mirrow at all times

from memory i think the mirrow lens can be cleaned from the front of the fridge with the door open and/or off which would be step one if that does'nt help then the above tube will be the problem cheers hope its only a dirty mirrow cheers

Hi Aggie,

As long as we continue to learn we are alive!

Below are a couple of sites that will help you to understand 'netiquette' (Internet etiquette).

http://www.networketiquette.net/

and

http://ezinearticles.com/?Netiquette-Rules---10-Best-Rules-for-Email-Etiquette&id=785177

Have a read of them and you will find it much easier to 'settle in'.
