Prior to our trip through Russia in 2009 I fitted out a Troopy for the trip. This included a Redarc battery isolator (SBI12) to enable the charging of the AGM to power the fridge etc.
The unit worked perfectly until in southern Kazakhstan it became intermittent. The LED came on as but there was no charge getting through the solenoid on some occasions. I made a workaround which got us through the rest of the trip.
Recently I went to the 4WD show at Eastern
Creek in
Sydney and spoke to Mick Bale at the REdarc stand. I described the problem and he told me that there was a 2 year warranty - I had thought it was only one and so had not followed it up. I was told to send it to the factory in SA.
Today, 4 days after sending it, I received a call from Redarc and talked to a gentleman about our trip and the problem. He told me that they had identified an intermittent problem and apologised that it had caused us problems in a remote place. He said that because the problem had occurred during the warranty period they would replace the unit even though it was now
well out of warranty.
I think this is a good indication of how hard this Australian company is working to produce good products which they stand by. I am very impressed and will support them again when I need something else.
Usual disclaimer - no connection - blah blah

Hi Alastair
I had a problem with
mine last year in that it kept rapidly click on and off, unfortunately it was on the way to
Broome and I only had 1 day in town to fix it. So my only option was to buy a new one unless i wanted to delay my trip. For the sake of $120 I just bought a new one.
I though about sending the stuffed one back, but though whats the point if they swapped it over I would still have spent $120. So i just threw it out.
I normally take warranties with a grain of salt as in my case I wasn't able to benfit from it.
Alan

Had a very similar experience with them they are very good with customer service and warranty type stuff.
But that out of the way I am reading more and more about these units failing and I am hoping it's not going to happen to me again.
