Has anyone stayed here before and if so which
campsite is the best to get away from the crowd, have a campfire and relax near a river ?
I've never camped in that area before.
Thanks

I have not camped there for many years. There is a Reserve just out of Weejar
on
the caves road that fronts the river & others upstream. I suggest you ring
Yass
Tourist Info Centre on 62262557.....oldbaz.

Hi Kika 11
There is a write up in the August/September issue of 'Go
Camping' on '
Wee Jasper' Described as Pet Friendly,
Bush camping at its best, hot showers and
toilets,
riverside camps and fishing. It may be worth the few bucks to check the site report in the mag though it is very brief. The item is on page 54 if you are a speed reader. LOL

Great
camping spot. Billy Grace campground has the showers &
toilets.
Ranger on site as
well. Should be quite most times except
Easter etc. By memory it costs about $7.50/adult/night. They have a community web site & the Rangers contact details can be found on this. Nice spots right on the river if you like.
Regards
Brendan

HI,
Its a beautiful area, v.cold during the cooler months though. We used to go there as kids 35-40 years ago and it was magic. As for getting away from the crowds forget it. We went with friends for the
Easter? break (cant remember, still trying to shed the memories) and nearly every
camp area was just a huge caravan
park - totally jam packed. The usual competing stereos, chainsaws, generators, huge fires and screaming kids everywhere. If you go out of peak periods you may be luckier.
Dont want to put you off its still a lovely place, just my recent experience, it certainly has been
well and truly discovered. oh, and the river is full of carp so forget any trout fishing, (we used to catch them every day 30 yrs ago....) though again you might be lucky. That's an environmental disaster and a real shame.....
still lovely though, probably very nice out of season....
...my 2c...

I was at Billy Gace last weekend and like always it was great.....albeit a bit crowded with a bunch of scouts there. All good kid though and not a lot of noise.

Micalong Creek is my choice.
A short walk along to the
creek to the river to fish.
Quality
toilets and a cold shower if you need one.
