hi
yes i have a suggestion
how about you be more spacific with details upfront
so someone can have some idea
like is it stock std in its present form
or have you already done some mods in no one can help without basic imfo as a starting point
we are mind readers
i'm not having a go at you but you are typical of a lot of people who do the same as you have
not provided any basic imfo on which one can start
cheers

Was thinking that to Mazcan - is the car standard - maybe it has roof rack, big tyres - does it have spacer to align the front/rear track - does it have bullbar adding to wind resistance , how is it driven - in the engine sweet spot -or outside it .
What does in get now in comparison to its rated figures ?
Is it run in - Is in run out ?

Don't know what kind of economy you are getting now but in my ute I am getting 15ltrs/100kms or 6.66km/ltr. This is with a 3" exhaust and a DP chip fitted. I have done 80,000km and its still like new. I dont carry any heavy weights in it and normaly sit between 80 & 100km per hr. Most of the driving is on the dirt but good tracks. I have spacers behind the back
wheels and an after market cruise control. I have way more power than I originaly had but am not so sure about the fuel savings.
Hope this helps.

Wow, those figures are not too flash. I have no personal experience with the V8 but local cockies are totally unimpressed with the fuel economy but love the donk.
Power comes at a price I guess. Makes my V6 Jack auto towing a C/t with 4 up
& getting 15L/100 look pretty good...:)))).....oldbaz.

Hi Skip,
Tell me about these spacers.....do you need longer wheel studs (surely). Did you have them made or did you buy them & shhh while no one is listening are they legal?

Tony
They have their own wheel studs with holes between for the existing studs. They are great if like me you travel on dirt a lot. They stop the back moving around if on a clay road that is rutted, also good in mud as you are not trying to cut 2 sets of wheel tracks. I got
mine from Snake Racing in
Sydney. About $200 or a bit more from what I remember, Here is the link.........
http://www.snakeracing.com.au/
They are not strictly legal but I have not had any problems and have now done about 75,000km with them.

I have a diesel V8 ute with an alloy covered back and bullbar, Autron cruise. I generally leave the
camping gear in the back.
I travel mostly 24 klms highway 100kph and around town retuns 11.6 lhk.
Last big drive from east coast to Poepels up the
Hay River track then to Alice via the Plenty and the back across the Simpson out through
walkers crossing to
Innamincka and back home to the east coast. Returned 16.5Lhk. I towed an ultimate camper the full distance.
I'm happy with that because Hz 80 series regularly retuned just under 19Lhk with less load.

Stan, without looking it up I suspect the 76 is the same motor. We rebuilt our TD 80 and are very disappointed at the fuel economy. We figure we may as
well get the V8 and have the power. Were over fuel economy the only reason we watch it now is its usally a tell tale
sign something is wrong if you suddenly go through a lot.

Hello Old Girl
Ours is a 2007 V8 landcruiser. We are over getting chips and larger exhausts , and extractors and all the ''go better' stuff. It is stock standard except for air bags on the rear springs. It has all the power we will ever need.
This is my first vehicle without splits and now fixing a puncture is a breeze.
Heck, in the '60s and '70s we travelled this country in a Kombi with push out front windows for AC. and wintertreads for tyres and the oil bath air cleaner had to be cleaned every day and ,and it was only 1.2 litre engine capacity, yes 1.2 litre. and an old Dodge Fargo ex
Ambulance with three on the tree. Today it is sheer luxury and the roads are good.
At
Halls Creek there used to be 200 44s lined up and now there are bowsers. Our clothes and bodies were red from the dust. The fridge was made of canvas with a
tank on top to keep it damp for evaporation.
Yes Old Girl we are very, very happy with the gear we have now.
Stan

#1 Run skinny tyres - the standard 750R16 on splits with smooth tyres give the best economy.
#2 Inflate the tyres to 50psi.
#3 Drive no faster than 80 kph and 1400rpm.
#4 Don't carry any extra weight
#5 Run thin oil in the motor
#6 Drive like you would to church on Sundays
