Hi Wilco
I have supplied many of those pictures. Mine were in the Great Riverland of South Australia from Renmark through to Chowilla. I would say the other people that have supplied them will let you know. If there is a particular picture that you would like further details on, let us know which one it is.

Cheers

Hi Kevin
I have just logged onto the home page and they have changed the pictures again. I know there are a few old buildings, but not sure if it is this one??Image Could Not Be Found
If this is the one, it was once the old Scab Inspectors Hut and Customs House, that was in use in the mid to late 1800's to check for all goods that were transported in South Australia and for checking all stock for a disease called "Scab"

The Old Bridge, these pictures:Image Could Not Be FoundImage Could Not Be Found
Is Suicide bridge on the Old Coach Road, between Renmark and Wentworth, just inside of South Australia. It was call this bridge for a very good reason.

A contact was called to build a bridge for use when track conditions were boggy on the Old Coach Road near Lake Littra. The person that was awarded the contract to build the bridge at Lake Littra failed to inspect the area correctly and use local knowledge, and built the bridge at the northern end of Lake Littra, thinking that this was the inlet to the lake, which was not correct and it should have been built at the bottom of the lake and the actual inlet. Seeing that the bridge was built in the wrong location, the Government refused to pay the contractor and the bridge was never used. Owing his workmen wages and not being able to pay them, the contractor hung himself from this bridge and this is how it become known as "Suicide Bridge"

I hope this helps you out.

Cheers

Hi Kevin
The Old Coach Road is a great drive and the only time that you would have any trouble is if it is wet. There are many great camping locations in the area. The of Suicide Bridge is visible from the main road if you know where to look, otherwise you would drive within around a kilometre from it and never know it was there. Have a read through the Trek File that I have written for EO and if you have any further queries or questions, please do not hesitate to ask me.

Make sure that you have a good look around at the Scab Inspectors Hut and just down near the creek, there is a very good example of an old Aboriginal Canoe tree. The Todd's Obelisk is well worth a look to see just how accurate Todd was with his survey.

Regards

Stephen
