Hi,
Just picked up a new camper trailer and tried to add the rego number to the My E-Toll site so it is linked to my account, they don't have an option for trailers though only cars, motorcycles, trucks and Bus. I was coming home on the M7 and the tag did not go off so now they have a pic of the trailer plate. Does anyone know if they automatically link this to the car? but what if someone else is towing it. Confused!
Cheers
Mark

If you call them they will add it. But if you have a eTag, it just goes off and you are billed anyway. It does not know you are towing a trailer.
I had a minor problem when it took a pic of my trailer in
Sydney and I received a bill. I told them I had a tag and 'all was forgiven'. Gotta love the RTA !!!

We have never been charged extra for our 6m caravan, just the normal car price. There was some talk of possibility of that changing but haven't heard anymore on it.

As far as I know trailers are not charged on toll roads. We had a camper trailer for years, and n ever got charged - and when we got our caravan, same story - just the car.

Julie
Initially, when we towed our Trak Shak thru the City link , we got slugged double
Thieving mongrels !
Lyn was ringing them up and telling them we towed out CT thru the Tunnel
So She stopped ringing them, and we used to purchase a pass at our local
post Office..
Presto ...problem solved. !
We now have an account with them, and it's the same, we never get charged, now.
Amazing they have missed out on a charge., for how long. ?
That freeway complex has to be paid for by now, with all the traffic on it ?
Surley ?
Cheers

I have a large pantec style trailer ( dual axel ) i get charged TRUCK rates when i go through toll booths when towing it , so you DO get charged for trailers , when dual axle and over a certain height

Yeap anything under the first set of sensors get charged at cheaper rates.
So a solution to your problem might be to make you pantec type trailer a pop top type and reduce your height.

Not really that much of an issue now - no toll roads anywhere near me ! - someone once told me the way around it is to go through the "change" lane then at the sensors you stop for half a second where
the gap between car and trailer is - so it registers a second vehicle following rather than an attached trailer
never tried it - but a few people have sworn by it .....

Try that on the Gateway and your rig will be shorter by a considerable margin LOL
With a GOVIA tag you dont and we havent been charged for our 25ft van ON ANY TOLL ROAD ANYWHERE.

Toll Roads? Tags? WE wouldn't know what you are talking about here in the West.

Thanks for the replies guys. My concern was they would have no way of associating the trailer with the car and I may get slugged twice or something. I have rang the M7 toll people and explained the issue and they said its not a problem on the M7 as they take a photo from the front (not sure how that works on motorcycles, maybe they do both front & back). I would still like to know if you can add trailers to your RTA E-Tag account as there is no option for trailers as I mentioned earlier. Guess I'll have to ring them on Monday.
Cheers

They must take photos front and back because when i ride my bike on the
toll roads i don't take the etag as the bike is listed to the tag. and it get's billed to my account.
